Which park to choose - SeaWorld or Legoland?

We have a free day Feb.3. We are 2 families of 5 with kids ranging in age from 4-9. We are debating between SeaWorld and LEGOLAND. We do have a reservation at Chef Mickey's at 6:30 that evening. Will we able to do either park and still make it to our dinner reservation? Which park should we choose and why?

^^^^^ agreed. No legos are harmed at LEGOLAND, but SeaWorld cannot say the same about their orcas and dolphins and beluga whales.

Ask on the Sea World forum, you'll get better answers.

We went to Sea World in Dec and my 3 year old loved it. Just try to get there at opening and you should get a lot done before leaving for your reservation.

We've been to both - I'd say Legoland because you have younger kids - it's ONLY good for younger kids IMHO (and the 9 year old might be on the brink of too old unless a big Lego fan), save Sea World for another trip when the kids will be older.

You can do either park and still make your reservation. Legoland is a drive, but they close at 5 anyway, so you should be fine. Just get there when they open. Both parks are great for the age ranges of your kids. Your 9 yo will likely be fine at Legoland and the younger ones would love it. SeaWorld also has a lot to keep everyone entertained, including some rides, and it is closer to Disney.

I prefer SeaWorld as theres much more to see and do but very young kids will love Legoland. 9yrs old maybe too old for Legoland. Just depends on your childs interests. Generally Legoland is ideal for ages 5-8 or so.

Legoland!

-great fun for your aged children
- we went in August, no lines no crowds
- easy to find deals for free kids tickets
- if kids are lego minifigure fans, they can trade figures just like pin trading

We seem to be in the minority, but we were really disappointed in Legoland when we went this past September. We had two seven year old boys, and a three year old girl with us. The boys weren't especially interested in most of the rides, and our daughter was too small to ride many of them. We would have had a better time (and spent less money) if we had added another day to our park tickets, or even just gone to Downtown Disney.

I can't speak for SeaWorld, as I've only been there once, years ago, and without kids.

Another vote for Legoland. It is a bit of a drive but not bad. We have boy/girl twins that were 9 when we visited and they really enjoyed it. They may not be big thrill rides but I think our two enjoyed them because they could ride them all without Mom and Dad. The shows were good as well.

We haven't visited LEGOLAND because our kids are too old but we have been to Sea World several times with the most recent being May, 2013. We really enjoyed the park and would definitely go back again. We also had dinner ADRs on Disney property and had plenty of time to make the ADR. I'd suggest that you get to the park as close to opening as possible. Most of the exhibits are walk-thru so you can pace yourself accordingly.

I have pictures of our Sea World day in my trip report. If you want to take a look around, click on the link in my signature. Links to each update are in post #2.

I would choose Lego Land this trip because your older children are just about past that prime age for it, and you have many more years when a Sea World Trip will still appeal to everyone.

We were planning a trip to SeaWorld in March until we read the Orca show is not running nor can you see the Orca right now. The SeaWorld website states, "Due to maintenance at Shamu Stadium, Dine With Shamu® and One Ocean will not be available early January through early April."

That made a big difference to us and we will plan a trip another time and instead will spend that day at Cocoa beach... just letting you know in case it helps with the decision.

With a few caveats, I say Legoland. I think your kids are the right ages to enjoy it. When we went, our youngest was just over 6 and our oldest was almost 10. Our youngest loved it, thought it was "awesome!" while our oldest appreciated the Lego creations in the park but thought the rides were "lame." It was worth doing once, but I would do it with kids on the younger end, so if you ever want to do it, do it sooner not later.

It's about a 45-minute drive from WDW. We were not on a Disney vacation when we went, so we stayed in Lake Wales, about 10 minutes from the park. We were there at park opening and were done by 4:00 ... and then drove to Downtown Disney for dinner and shopping. :)

Is that a close beach? That could be another option for our free day....
