We have decided to extend our trip to included the Sunday after Thanksgiving. I was wondering what park would be best to visit on that day. Anyone have any advice to give me? That Sunday will be the first time ever our family visits Disney so I want it to be nice and fun.
Thanks!

I've never toured during that time frame, so I'll just bump this back to page one for you in hopes that some of our veterans can offer advice.

Although I've never toured on that day (yet), I've been in Epcot on Memorial Day. Although it's typically a busy day, Epcot seems to handle crowds well, so I would think that would be a good place to be (and I'm taking my own advice-I'm going to try that park on the 11/27).

I have been that day and I agree, Epcot is the park to go. While crowds are thinning from the holiday, there are still a lot more people there Sunday and Monday after Thanksgiving than you'll find the rest of the week.

That will actually be good. My kids won't be disappointed with Epcot if we do it first. I think Epcot looks really neat but I was afraid of a let down effect for the kids. I mean it let's face it after Pirates, Tower of Terror, etc...Epcot might seem a little tame!
Thanks Again Everyone !

Hi there....we'll be there at that time as well. My plan is to do Animal Kingdom in the am, and Epcot in the pm. Most people are probably leaving that day or the next from the holiday, and to me (no offical reading of this) I would think not as many would be at AK. But, I could be wrong. We'll see. I also think w/my little ones, although DH & I spent a lot of time at AK, this time w/the kids we most likely won't be. I could be wrong on that too though, the girls love animals. But, thats the plan I'm sticking to.

Don't forget Epcot has Test Track, Mission Space and Soarin will be open then. It shouldn't be a total disappointment ;)

- that sounds so cool! My kids want nothing to do with Mission Space. I'm not sure why..they just decided they wanted to skip that. We will do Test Track though, my youngest is a bit afraid of it but I keep telling her it's safe.
With Epcot being so large I'm glad we decided to take two days to tour it. I'd hate to miss the little things while trying to rush.
Thanks Again everyne!!!

We will be making our third Thanksgiving trip this year. My rule is to avoid MK all of thanksgiving weekend. Epcot is a good choice and so is Animal Kingdom for Sunday. Dont rule out Epcot for the kids.. My kids LOVE it there. We first went when my girls were 3 & 5, and now they are 9 & 11 and I have a 3 year old son who loves the BIG DISNEY BALL!! There is SO much to do at Epcot that even after 10 trips, we are still doing things for the first time!! Epcot has extra things going on after THanksgiving for the holidays! Each country has a 'story teller' that tells about that country's customs for Christmas and tells about their version of Santa Claus. There are different times of day to see them and they are all listed on the Times Guide you get by the maps. Dont miss the Tree Lighting Ceremony... there is one at each park!!! There are the Lights of Winter at Epcot and its just a huge light canopy thing that you walk through. Its really pretty. Check out the Character Caravan. The bus load of characters stops at certain times in Epcot. If you get there a few minutes before the bus gets there, you get most of the characters autographs. There will be Christmas/holiday music piped thru all of the parks.. and its awesome!! They have the Candle light Procession on certain nights, but if you sit back outside at a table at the American Adventure, you can see a little and can hear all the music. Might be a nice time to schedule a counter sevice late dinner there to catch the music. This past January, there was a special extra holiday ending to Illuminations. We werent there on thanksgiving night, so Im wondering if it was something they did from T'giving through Christmas. It was another few minutes of some awesome fireworks!!! wE STARTed walking away when I thought Illuminations was done, and they started talking about the holidays, and then BAM... more fireworks. I hope they do it again this year!!

Kimbac3 - How many days will you be there over Thanksgiving?? Im planning on going down the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to the Wednesday after. My kids have 6 days off for school so it works out great for me!! They usually only miss one day.. We wanted to go to the 2nd MVMCP last year too, and that meant us not getting home until Wednesday night. Im not sure I will go to both this year. Im going solo with the 3 kids this trip at Thanksgiving.. so I might just do the first one.. Are you planning on doing all the special Christmas/holiday things at all the parks?? Its the best time to go.. MVMCP is awesome.. they make it snow on main street and its absolutely beautiful!!! I cant wait until THanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went to AK the sunday after Thanksgiving in 2001. It was packed we went right at opening and it took about 30 minutes just to get in. Once we were in it was packed. This was our first trip to Disney and we didn't care for it. Luckily I did know about fastpass and my son had studied what he wanted to do. Two hours later we were on the bus to Epcot (that was our plan), what a difference. We loved Epcot and again used fastpass for some things. Fortunately, we were able to return to Disney in 2003 in Sept. AK was so nice that day, we did everything they had to offer, it was slow. AK is quite a bit smaller park so that is probably what makes the difference. We are thinking of going back after Thanksgiving this year, we will be doing Epcot on Sunday.

the Friday after Thanksgiving. (We are actually leaving on Thanksgiving Day.We are driving from NJ.) Saturday we plan on doing Sea World.I bought 7 day park hoppers (for Sunday through Saturday). We also plan on going to MVMCP on Tuesday. That way if we get rained out we can go another day before we leave. We will be doing the family magic tour too. All of the extras are surprises for my kids.
I hope to do as much of the special Christmas stuff as I can. We are so excited. I can't wait for Thanksgiving too! :Pinkbounc
We will be at Epcot on Sunday - thanks to everyones help we should have a great day.
I'm going to be wearing some Dis green so maybe you'll spot me!

Me Too!

Epcot is WONDERFUL the Sunday after Thanksgiving! It is beautifully decorated for the holidays. Go to the tree lighting ceremony at 6:00, try to catch some of the Candlelight Processional at America Gardens, and don't miss the holiday version of Illuminations at 9:30!
