We will be arriving in Orlando at about noon on Sat. June 10th. We will want to rest up at our hotel for a period of time and then head out to a park in the late afternoon/early evening. Which park would be the wisest choice?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.....

Would you all recommend Epcot or AK with small kids (4 & 6) who have never been to Disney before. We are also arriving Saturday morning and want to spend an afternoon/evening at one of the parks. I was planning Epcot for Sunday. I though MK on Sat afternoon would really get us pumped for our trip. What do you vets think? We will be at the parks for 7 days so we will have lots of time.

MK on a Saturday afternoon in fantasyland is not my idea of how I'd want to start my vacation with kids-They won't get to do much due to crowds. SOme FPs may already be gone. I usually go to Epcott. AK is also a good idea IF it is open long enough-it tends to close early- and it is not too hot out.

I would suggest hanging around the resort until later in the evening and then head over to Epcot for Illuminations. Since you will have 7 days there will be plenty of time to spend at MK and I agree that is NOT the place you want to be on a Saturday afternoon let alone to start you vacation like that (that would not be fun.) Every time we have gone its been at less crowded times but it is ALWAYS crowded on Saturday afternoons at MK and MGM (haven't experienced AK on a Sat afternoon but other seem to think it is good) Last trip I made a "quick" trip from POFQ to MK on Saturday afternoon (Dec 17th) to buy something at the Stitch store for my DH and I thought I could take a quick ride on Space Mountain ~ wrong ~ the line for both the standby and fastpass were out the door and the standby line was half way to the Astro Orbiter. Oh and this was at 3 PM and the fastpasses were for 5:30-6PM. I figured I would just get my Stitch stuff and get out of there (made it out before the parade got to Main Street) My whole "quick" trip turned into a 2 hour treck (and it was only 11 minutes on the bus back from MK to POFQ)

So I would stay FAR FAR away from MK on Saturday afternoons.

Epcot gets my vote as well - you can start out at Spaceship Earth, then go see Honey I shrunk the Kids 3D movie, then head over to the Figment ride (the voice and character from the movie talks to you on the ride - real cute!!) then they can "play" in that room -

oh I forgot (it was closed when we went!) You'll want to see Crush in the Living Seas - for my dd that takes up about an hour or more!! She loves the aquarium stuff!! Eat Dinner.

Then walk around the world... for kids the rides are inside Mexico, and Norway!! Then it will probably be time for illuminations!!
