which park for us?

We will be in town for two days on June 4/5 after a cruise. We will be able to make it to whichever park we choose around 11:00 am on the 4th. We know for sure we are doing Magic Kingdom on one of the days as we have free passes from volunteering.

My wife wants to try Universal for the other day. I am trying to figure out which park would be better & with all of the Harry Potter possibilities if we should just stay away and go to Seaworld this time around. We have never been to either park before & will have a 7 year old boy & 9 year old girl. Neither of them are into thrill rides, but do enjoy the milder rides. Anything more exciting than Thunder Mountain will be skipped by us. We don't have any Harry Potter fans, so nobody will be disappointed if we miss out on that, but also don't want to be fighting crowds because of it.

Which Universal park would be best for us or should we stay away?

Tough to say. If you just avoid the two coasters and Dr. Doom at IOA, you should be fine on everything else. Does everyone ride Splash Mountain? If so, the two water rides with drops should be okay for you. At Universal, Rockit is out. Mummy is more intense than BTMRR, but I don't think I'd rule it out for you.

If they can't do the water rides or won't ride the new Harry Potter ride, Universal is the easy decision. If its raining, go to Universal.

Thanks. Everyone will ride Splash Mountain.

I would personally say US over IOA. I think there will be more things for your family to do. However, Sea World would also be fun for you and the kids. The rides might be to extreme, except the Atlantis is similar to Splash Mountain. Great shows and a chance to see amazing creatures up close.

We haven't told our kids about our trip (only a little over 7 weeks away). I kind of beat around the bush asking my son about Seaworld vs. Universal & he picked Seaworld. I have booked a room at the Sheraton Safari (on points), so I think either would be a good option for either park. I think we will wait until last minute to decide which park & let the kids decide. I will give them the two options of US or Seaworld.

if i were you, that is what i would do.

sw or the studios.

you can't go wrong either way for a day.

try to avoid universal on a saturday.
it will be crowded.
stick with a weekday.

Agreed, Sea World or the Studios, not IOA.

Sea World has 4 main rides--Journey to Atlantis--more intense than Splash Mtn, but not by too much. Kraken--intense rollercoaster. Manta--super intense flying rollercoaster. Wild Arctic--simulator.
SW also has lots of shows; Pets Ahoy and the Sea Lion & Otter show are great. They also have Shamu's Happy Harbor, which has a huge play area & kiddie rides.

Universal Studios has more rides, with the Mummy being the most intense (Space Mtn caliber) if you skip Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit (big coaster). Most of the stuff in USF is tame, the special effects make the rides more intense than they actually are. You could even get picked to be part of Disaster, which is a fun ride/show/experience.
