Which park for Halloween day & night?

Which park is the best to visit on Halloween during the day and at night.

DD16, DD14 and DS7.

Halloween is the last day and night we'll be in Florida.

We're doing MSSSHP on 24th.

I'd say that for your elder two ......definitely Universal!!!

We did HHN at US on Halloween 2001...........absolutely brilliant!!...but it might be a bit intense for the youngest (7). Our two were 10 and 8, they thought it was great but very little phases them at the best of times.

Don't know exactly what the format is since they moved it from US to IOA....but it'll be pretty much the same I'd imagine.

The parades were great, but the overall feel is very definitely more grown up than MNSSHP.

One thing to remember is that guests are NOT ALLOWED to dress in Halloween outfits or make-up, if you do you won't get in!....which I gather is not the case at WDW.

No problem...........your post prompted me to get out our video from 2001........there's 3 main "spooky thrill " areas. One was the area from BTTF up to MIB ...that was "Ghoul Alley " and lit with dim green lights and graveyard music.

The Midway Fair became a thoroughfare for some fairly spooky looking clowns ( no , make that VERY spooky clowns )...... I have to admit I'm not overly keen on clowns to start and my language on the video only confirms my lack of bottle LOL!!

We didn't do the third area which was at the back of Monsters Cafe, there were so many things to see/do we never got around to it.

All areas had dry ice and atmospheric lighting to make it look foggy, it certainly gave a fright factor!!

However the clowns/ghouls etc DO NOT shout, talk or touch you ..... they don't need to! It all depends how timid/brave your DDs' and DS are, it was good fun for our lot.

I only wish we could have planned our holiday this year to take in HHN !!

If you're undecided I'd be happy to put 10-15 minutes of HHN on video for you...........it'll make your mind up one way or the other!

I've been on the Universal website and it says that this year HHN is going to be a lot more scary, goohlish, gruesome etc etc so I think I'll need to leave it until DS7 is a little bit older - he would be too nervous this year.

We did HHN at islands of adventure last year and believe me it was scary the whole park seems to be submerged in smoke and you don’t know whats around each corner our 13 year old son really enjoyed it but it frightened his mum and dad to death as far as your youngest is concerned he may find it a little alarming what with bold headed punks chasing you with chainsaws every 2 minutes but I am sure your teenage children would probably love it?? I must admit we had a great night and we are planning on going again this year we must be mad??

thanks for the info - quite certain that my DS7 would not be able to cope with the chainsaw stuff be I'm sure in a couple of years he'll have a great time - not sure about me though!!!!

Last Oct 31st on the Boardwalk they had some special things going on (we were in US so missed it ) I know there were characters there and a children's fancy dress competition.

It might be worth considering

As i said in a previous post we went to HHN last year but it was on the 28th of October on the Actual 31st of October we decided to spend the day in Wet & Wild but by about 4-oclcock it was clouding over so we decided we would pop down to the Florida Mall and boy what a suprise when we got there at about 6-oclock the mall turned into the biggest fancy dress party we had ever seen all the locals came along with the kids and parade around the mall and all the shops have assistants standing outside with boxes and boxes of sweets it was never ending stream of children all in fancy dress and i got some brilliant video of it all my son who was 12 joined in and had a great time it was deffinately differant and a great suprise as we had only gone there to do a bit of shopping maybe this might suit your youngest

We went to Orlando a couple of years ago at the end of October and where obviously there for Halloween, well during the day we went the Universal Studios and were very upset and annoyed to discover firstly they would not let the children in dressed up (and they weren't OTT, Just dressed in Ghostbuster's jumpsuits that I had made) and secondly at 5.00 pm they close the park and every one has to leave and then pay again to come in for the evening, we thought that it was a bit of a rip off as we had paid alot for our 3 day tickets and we couldn't use them to get back in for the evening - we did not want to stay to late as the children were getting tired - so we went back to the Villa and let the children go trick or treating just to the neighbousr either side - to whom we had spoken and then had a small party with halloween cakes from walmarts I think they enjoyed that more than they would have an extremely buisy park with lots of people around!

Sorry to hear you were upset at US over Halloween.

In fairness to US there are LOADS of signs outside and inside the parks telling everyone that HHN is a seperate event and what the costs are...........exactly the same as WDW do with MNSSHP which is also a seperate pay event.

As for the no dressing up rule, HHN is aimed at a different age group to MNSSHP and there staff are in costume which is why they don't allow the general public to do so. Again, all the advertising goes to great pains to point this out.

At least you got to have an enjoyable Halloween with your neighbours ( and the kids got to eat loads of cakes !!....so they'd be well happy..LOL!! )
