Want a pal mickey for DS (for me really) for our next trip. I can get a brand new "old" type from ebay for $20 or should I wait and get the new type when I get there next year?

Anyone any experiences of the old or new type?

I have an 'old' style that I will be taking back with me :) I don't really know apart from the outfit what the difference is?

I thought the outfit was the only difference.

I bought my Pal Mickey and thought he was fun, but I did not feel the need to pack him for a return visit ;)

I had expected to adore him but found myself a little underwhelmed, but lots of people love him.

My view would be go for the Ebay $20 version (assuming the condition is OK!)

The newstyle PalMickey is approx $65!!! So I am sure I can live without the tuxedo If I am saving $45!!!

I've just been over to Ebay to have a look, I might buy one for me oops DD! They do sound rather fun!

I'm taking the 'new' style back home (WDW) with me on Monday.:)

We are taking the 'old' style Pall Mickey back with us next week :)

Does he get his 'memory' and hopefully his awful corny jokes updated when you go into a park?

We bought the “limited edition” one that cost $65 and I guess we never used it correct as I thought it was a waste of time. My son held it for a small part of the day and then didn’t want to know it. No one else wanted to take it with us so was left in the hotel for the rest of the Holiday. I guess we would have taken it if we could hear what it was saying at a noisy park but when you struggle to hear the advice you think what’s the point.

Still it’s a neat idea overall, I think in years to come this will be developed and you find pal Mickey can get you discounts and other stuff, and before you know it everyone will have one LOL ;)

Thanks for all the info!

Just heard back from ebay sellers and they are charging $28 delivery, that brings the cost to $48. I am going to wait and get the new one when I get there!

we bought one in DTD in July, the day we arrived.....my kids (21 and 18 years old) loved it and carried it everywhere in the parks...i thought they'd get tired of it, but they didn't....now it sits on my daughters piano to keep her company when she plays...

if you ride Tower of Terror, take Mickey with you and pay attention to what he says after you ride it....so funny....

I love my Pal Mickey! I bought the 50th anniversary one in May, after much consideration- I'm usually a commited bargain hunter! The 50th PalMickey is not only louder than the previous model (but not intrusively so!), but I believe the software has more features.
Having said that, if you do opt for the original, all the 'variable' info (ie park/ time dependant) is uploaded upon entering the park- regardless of the model.

Rumour has it they are adding PalMickey capabilities on DCL, the resorts; and the coming year will bring new outfits for him.. :goodvibes I've always had a soft spot for the Safari Mickey, and am keeping my fingers crossed!

cocinelle xx
