:woohoo:I'm booked at the Dolphin for Thanksgiving 2011 for 1 adult 1 child!!!!! :thumbsup2 (Nov 23-27) I'm second guessing the amount of money that I'm spending.:confused3 I don't have a choice about dates- I'm a teacher and can't take time off. I need some advice from experienced Disneyers. All options include airfare, hotel, transportation (Mag Express or Mears), 5 day park hopper and food. Here are my choices:

1- Dolphin $2400 (Is taking Mears a problem? Is the location worth $300?)
2- ASMo $2100
(stayed this way before and enjoyed it. We don't spend much time at the room)
3- Off site- $1900 (Is the inconvenience worth saving $500?) I've never stayed off site. As a single parent, would it be very difficult?

Thanks for any help.;)

I would stay at one of the value resorts! I would not want to stay off-site. Just seems safer to be in a Disney resort to me. It also just adds more "magic" to your vacation. I have never stayed at an All-Star, but I do really like Pop Century.

I would stay at the value. It's only $200 more expensive than offsite and definitely worth it. Have a great time!

tried for a teacher's discount. The Swan and Dolphin often have lower rates for teachers. It's not always available but may be worth asking.

According to Mousesavers, use the code TEACH when you call.

I would stay at the value and save the money. I like the value resorts and always have a great time there.

Can anyone tell me more about this teacher discount? If you are booking an entire package with room/tickets/dining plan, can you still request a teacher discount? Thanks!

i would consider the dolphin because thanksgiving is pretty busy and the as buses can be a issue
the problem is you don't know till you are there
add a teacher discount and it might be the same or less even, then of course it is a no brainer

Thanks for the input. I appreciate the opinions.

The rate I have at Dolphin is cheaper than the teacher discount. Really hoping I get a pin code for value and those go even cheaper.

In order to add the DDP you must be staying at a Disney owned resort. The Dolphin is not Disney owned so you can't get the DDP there. Also you won't be able to use the DME service from the airport. You'd have to either use a town car service, rent a car, use a taxi, or book Mears yourself. If you book Mears they may or may not put you on a DME bus. They may put you in one of their Mears vans. For only $300.00 difference I'd go with the Dolphin over a Value (much nicer resort and better location).

I have stayed at both and would recommend the dolphin (swan?) over the pop century too. The beds they have are heavenly after a long day at the parks. Their location is great - just a short walk thru Boardwalk to EPCOT and many other nice amenities. Oh . . . and a room about twice the size too! Have a great trip! :)
