Should I go ahead and bite the bullet and reserve for GCH? I was planning on staying at the Disneyland Hotel, but everyone is soooooo making me want to stay at the GCH. Is it worth the extra money? We are going for about a week at the end of Oct. next year. We will have a 2yo DD and a 5yo DS, are they to young for this kind of hotel? My husband dosnt want to stay there, he says its to much money. But to be perfectly honest, he knows nothing about our finances and would be totally excited about it if I saved a little extra money and surprised him with the better hotel. I just dont know what to do! Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!!!Thank you!

With kids those ages I think you'd be much happier with the Disneyland Hotel. The GCH just seems more grown up--not as bright and cheery and childlike as the DLH.

If you really want to save money, look into an offsite property. I would recommend the Candy Cane Inn or the Howard Johnson's. Both are within walking distance and both are nice places.

I would probably go with the DL hotel. Save a little extra money and do so thing extra special at the park- F! reserved seating, a tour, extra souviners, etc.

I took a 6 year old and 3 1/2 year old to the DL Hotel. It was a hike especially at night having to carry half asleep kids back from the parks. The kids hated the Neverland Pool. We were there in August - I don't think the pool was being heated at the time. It was freezing and packed - wall to wall people. The hotel was noisy (we were in Sienna Tower). We had to switch from a downtown Disney view (too loud) to a pool view.

I know that people say that DL Hotel is so great for little kids and that is why we picked it. But, it wasn't right for our family. We are staying at the GCH this time. We decided to make the splurge. We had liked its location better and decided that for us, location mattered. Plus, we had walked through the lobby while we were there last time and had really liked it.

All Disney hotels are made to be family friendly. Just cause it isn't screaming Mickey Mouse, doesn't mean it isn't a pleasant child pleasing environment. You have to decide what your family prefers in a hotel and go for it. If your kids are totally into the quintessential Disney characters - you might prefer DL. However, if you prefer a more tame environment with a better location, I would splurge for GCH like we are doing on our next trip.

When we had to decide, one of the things we looked at - either stay at the concierge level at one of the other hotels, or stay at GCH (resort view). They were similar in price, but when it came down to it, my wife said that she prefers being right in the middle of the park. Just being able to walk out the door, and you are right there (at DCA), and just a short walk to either DD or DL.

Part of our decision also came from our experience with recent trips to WDW. We find that the better resorts just have a nicer "feel" to them. Obviously, since I've never been to either PP or DLH, I can't comment on them directly, but I can comment on WDW hotels that would be considered "moderate" or "value". While you pay more for the more expensive resort hotels, I find you feel more relaxed, and can take advantage of the better amenities (spas, and other things). The "value" and "moderate" resorts tend to have more people packed into them, and are less relaxing. Again, just my 2 cents, your experience may differ.

Either way you chose, it's still Disney, so you can't go wrong! Enjoy!
