The big thunder mountain rail road has been one of our favorites. During each trip we ride it at least once a day. My kids are 11 and 15 and want to try the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We will be probably making 7 short trips to MK 2-3 hours each. I was able to get 4 fp+ for SDMT and 1 for BTMRR, but now I'm double guessing myself. Are my kids too old for the SDMT, and should I swich the fp+ to the BTMRR? I would greatly appreciate your opinion.

It depends on when you're going but you're more likely to be able to do a shorter stand-by for BTMRR and still ride that numerous times. If it turns out you all really like 7DMT, you'll be glad you have several FP+.

7DMT is going to have a much longer wait that BTMRR. At some point in time in the day BTMRR usually goes down to under an hour wait especially during EMH. I was there two weekends ago now and 7DMT was never under 55 minutes even during EMH and it was barely the summer crowds.

I would leave it as is. Chances if after your first spin on SDMT you decide you'd prefer BTMRR, there will likely still be FP+ availabilities for later in the week that you could switch to. There will be less chances to grab SDMT due to its current popularity.

You've got to try SDMT at least once! Don't change your plan. On our June trip, we planned to hit SDMT as soon as the park opened and use our FP+ for other rides. As soon as the Welcome Show ended, we ducked through the stores on Main St. and hustled to SDMT...and the wait was already 2 hours. We wound up waiting about 70 min in the evening to ride it.

Thank you so much. That was my original thought. Most of our fp+ are in the morning. We leave at lunch time, than return to the park again each day after diner. I also thought that we can always try to get the 4th fp+ for BTMRR before we leave around 1pm, but I'm not sure what the fp+ availability will be at that time.

7 Dwarfs will keep a line almost until closing time. You're not going to get many rerides due to the newness of the attraction. You may get on twice during the last half hour of operation but that would be it.

On the other hand, the line for Big Thunder drops to 5-10 minutes or even less during that last hour to hour and a half of operation.

Your most efficient use of time would be to keep the 7 Dwarfs passes and ride standby as many times as you want on Big Thunder.

FP+ 7DMT definitely. You can go to BMTR first thing in the morning or last thing at night and have a shorter wait.

Thank you, we will do that. I have been looking at the wait times on my Disney Experience App. and it only shows the ones for the BTMRR. I was surprised to see really long wait times after 8PM, I'm not sure if its because its a busier season or if the wait times have increased because of the introduction of the fp+. Also my disney app. does not show any wait times for the 7DMT, it is listed with a fork and a knife next to it as it was a restaurant:confused3
