I don't know which is better and which is cheaper. Here is my situation. I want to go on my second Disney Cruise. Its me, my 11 year old daughter, my 6 year old daughter and my father wants to come and so does my 30 year old brother. Is it better and/or cheaper to get two lower cat adjoining rooms, or get a cat 4. If we get the two rooms am I paying an adult price for my 11 year old because there wouldn't be two adults in a room?:Pinkbounc

The first two passengers listed in a stateroom are adult fares - how about Dad & brother in the adjoining stateroom with you and kids together?

That is what I was thinking, I just didn't know if it was better to get one bigger room, but I don't know how the sleeping arangments would be in that room.

Cat 4 rooms sleep 5 -
2 in bed,
1 in couch that converts to a bed,
1 in pullman style bed that drops down above couch,
1 in murphy bed that pulls down from the wall.

Also consider that with 1 room there is only 1 bathroom. True that it is split with 2 sinks but with 3 adults, it would be tight.

Also consider that when the murphy bed is down, it blocks access to the veranda.

We just did the 7 day eastern with 5 of us (self, DW, DS9, DS7, & DD4) and next time will most likely be getting 2 rooms.

The answer is ...

it is often cheaper for two lower category rooms (say 11) than for a Category 4. Here is one example, say for a family of four.

Category 4 - Disney Magic - 7 day cruise late July 03

$8047.08 2 adults / 2 kids

Here are the 2 adult prices

Cat. 12 - 3143.54 x 2 rooms
Cat. 11 - 3283.54
Cat. 10 - 3383.54
Cat. 09 - 3583.54
Cat. 08 - 3783.54
Cat. 07 - 4583.54

only when you get to Cat. 07 would it be higher

all these prices include transfers and insurance

Of course, what you don't get when you go with two adjoining staterooms is the veranda. JMHO, but that veranda is a biggy. It probably holds more weight with me than does the extra bathroom. Another option is a cat6 or 7 and an inside room (cat11) across the hall.

Thank you all so much for your comments and suggestions. I would like to ask tstoob - I guess if you got two rooms would you and your wife sleep in each or would you feel comfortable leaving the kids in a room by themselves? I do think we will go with the two rooms. The two bathrooms would be nice. My father lives alone and forgets to put the seat down. My kids are already afraid of the toilets on the ship.

If we did 2 rooms, they would need to be adjoining as our kids are too young yet to be alone and then we would put them in the 2nd room with the door between left cracked open. If you get really lucky, 5024 & 5022 are adjoining cat 10 rooms on the port side and 5524 & 5522 on the starboard side w/portholes (blocked views so lower cost). These do book far in advance & you should specifically request them.
