We are going (hopefully) in May 08 for niece's graduation and will be staying at the Fort. Our crew can only do one really "BIG" meal out while there. We are trying to decide on Medieval Times or Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review. My niece loves stories of medieval times (Cinderella is all time favorite Disney Movie) and we thought that would be fun for her but I've also heard great things about Hoop Dee Doo. None of us have done either. Any helpful options and advice would be great. I would especially like to know the options of those who have done both. Which do you think a 17 year old would like to do the most?

My family did the Hoop-Dee-Doo last year for my DS graduation and everyone loved it, we did it again last Tuesday, the food was good and the show is funny. We have never done Medieval Times, well DS21 did about 6 years ago and he said it was great, but I don't know about the food or if it was all you can eat.

At Medieval Times, the food is served in courses, therefore it isn't all-you-can-eat. However, the food is delicious! Drink, soup served to you in a heavy goblet (ala just like medieval times), half a chicken, corn/garlic bread, spare ribs, tarts, what's not to like. Oh, did I mention just like in medieval times, you eat with your fingers. Don't be shy, we all did it as kids, now you have an ecuse to do it again as an adult, besides, everyone's doing it. The show is wonderful, you can cheer (or in our case jeer) your "Knight". Our Knight must have been having an off night, he failed every task, never scored a hanging circle ring, even missed the ENTIRE target with his spear, then only broke one lance on his opponent during the joust. The people in our section were really getting to him with the jeering, he turned to us all while on his horse and cursed us for the heavy jeering, hey, everyone felt he deserved it he was that bad that evening.

You will enjoy it if you go, go early to look over the grounds too. The main hall inside is nice too. Also, notify them of your special occasion and your DS will get an invitation to appear before the King and Queen in front of ALL the "Lords & Ladies" in attendance.

If you've never been to either of these events before, might I suggest that youtube is your friend. Doing a search on "Hoop De Doo" will give several clips of the show. My favourite is their version of "Clementine"

As for Medieval Times, I haven't done any youtube searches on it, but I have taken lots of pictures at the one in Toronto, ON (Canada). It is the same franchise, and the same show. You can look at my pictures at:

I'm sure that you would enjoy either show.

We thought Medieval Times was OK but by far, at least in our opinion, The Arabian Knights Dinner Show was far better. Food was not bad either. I also understand Dixie Stampede is great too but we have not been to this show yet. And of course, the Hoopdee Doo Review is great also.

Thank you all for the great opinions and advice. We are trying to decide if we should do the suprise thing or let her decide because it is her graduation. BTW adams thanks for letting me see the great photos. The show looks like great fun. I also saw the youtube of Hoop Dee Doo, it seems very entertaining. I wish we could do both but alas the money gnomes have spoken and told us only one dinner show. We thought about the resturant in Cinderalla's castle but it's only a really nice (expensive) dinner and for the same price we would rather do a dinner show.

We did Hoopdee Doo and Dixie Stampede. We liked Hoopdee Doo better. Just a thought for you.:thumbsup2
