We are complete newcomers to DVC and just booked our 1st reservation for VB, 4 nights next April. Since it will only be the 2 of us on this trip, we thought it would be nice to have just the one bed and roomy sitting area so we booked a studio. Not knowing anything about the resort or it's layout, wondering if we made the right choice or should we have gone with maybe an ocean view Inn room?

if you don't care if you see the ocean - the studio will be fine - studios are in the villa part - the inn rooms are in the main building

only the inn rooms guaranteed an ocean side (not necessary an ocean view)

If the guaranteed ocean view is more important than the sitting room, then you should change your reservation to an ocean view inn room. If the one bed and couch is more important, then you did the right thing. You still have a chance of getting an ocean view with the studio, or a section of an ocean view, but there are only a few in the villa buildings. Ask for a third floor ocean view studio and you might get lucky. Either way, I have never had a bad view at Vero, even if I wasn't looking at the ocean. You will have a great time.

should I call back MS and have a request for an "oceanview" studio added to my reservation - or is that not done - and just wait and hope for the best when we check in.

You can certainly reguest top floor, ocean view. The will tell you that there are very few ocean view rooms and there is no guarantee you will get it. But it doesn't hurt to ask!!!

But if you will be disapointed if you don't have an ocean view, you should change your reservation to ocean view inn room on the top floor. But you will then have the two beds.

Some of the inn rooms with the two beds also have a sitting area with a couch. You can request this, but once again there is no guarantee you will get it.

I believe I've seen posted before that there are two (maybe more) OVIR that have a king sized bed and a sofa instead of the regular two queen configuration. I've personally never had one, but believe others have posted that they exist. Seems like the post about "Vero Treasures" may even mention it - so you might try a search for that post. That sounds like a wonderful room for two!

weigh in too. We have been to Vero twice with our two kids. We've gotten the ocean view inn room because we like the two queen beds with the kids. I was thinking about going with a 1-bedroom . . . all issues irrelevant to your situation, but I opted to continue with the Inn room because of it's convenience to everything. There's a place to refill your drinks right in the Inn (at the Green Cabin Lounge) if you get the refillable mugs plus the restaurant and lounge (with live music most nights plus a great atmosphere) are there too. Vero is smallish and nothing is far away, but still all the studios are in separate buildings from the Inn. Personally we love the Inn, but if the couch is important to you go for the studio.

If you book an Inn Room go for the fourth floor for the best view. Non smoking, preferred view.:)
