Which one POFQ or Riverside???

I am going solo and I have read so many post about the two PO resorts. With no kids is one better than the other?

We like POFQ because it is smaller and seems to be quieter. All of the buildings are a short distance to the bus stop (POFQ has only one, but does sometimes share with POR-but it picks up at POFQ first!) and food court area. I just like it better because to me it feels more "homey" and comfortable. POR is very nice but very spread out. It can be quite a hike from your room to the food court and sometimes the buses are full by the time they get to the last of the POR bus stops. Going alone I would pick POFQ without a doubt.

Depends on what you're looking for. We've stayed at both and loved both. We prefer POFQ for the reasons Carrieberry pointed out. We have small children and my mother has health problems- therefore we prefer the smallness of POFQ better. However, both are beautiful. The mansions at POR are incredible. POFQ is like a very clean New Orleans- jazz music and all! POR has a sit-down restaurant- but you could go the short distance from POFQ to eat. Both food courts are good. The room sizes are about the same. If you choose POR, do your homework. Get a map and request a specific building to avoid long walks. I don't think you could go wrong with either!

Yes I totally agree., POR is beautiful! We stayed in AB when we went and we loved it. We were right next to a quiet pool and it was very peaceful. It was a little bit of a walk to the food court area but the paths were so lovely we didn't mind. Maybe that is the decidng factor? If you like to get up, stop by the food court quickly and head out to the parks right away and head right from the bus back to your room at the end of the day POFQ would be the best bet. If you like too linger and enjoy the resort on your way out in the mornings or on the way back to your room POR would be the one. If you like to enjoy the pools in peace and quiet you could enjoy the quiet pools at POR much better than the one big pool with slide at POFQ. Also when are you going? POR tends to get a lot more teenagers during the Pop Warner football and cheerleading compititions which I believe are the first week or two in Dec this year. We stayed at POFQ during this time years ago. We had no cheerleader or FB players at our resort but when we went over to POR for breakfast at Boatwrights we were overrun by them!!

Carrieberry- we are staying at POFQ this year during Pop Warner week in Dec. I've read some cheerleaders are staying at POR and am concerned about buses- since the two resorts share buses. Did you have a problem with overcrowded and loud bus rides during this time?

Tink2-Actually I don't remember the cheerleaders on the buses at all when we were there (maybe they are doing other stuff for the compititions all day?). In fact, I hardly even noticed them at the parks. Maybe a couple of groups of girls with matching hair ribbons and t-shirts but nothing annoying. In fact I probably would not have even realized they were there except for two things. The first was the craziness of POR the morning we walked over there. The second thing was that one night we took the boat to DD and the boat showed up with a group of 8 or so cheerleaders on it (since the boat picks up at POR first) and they sang (very loudly) Christmas carols all the way to DD. It didn't really bother us, but I can see how some would be annoyed!! You did a wise thing by picking POFQ instead of POR, I will never forget how insane that place was and I was so thankful we were not staying there!! UGH! Anyway, the only time we had an issue with the bus service was the night of MVMCP. Might want to get a cab or make a PS somehwere over there earlier because we had to wait for about 3 buses before we finally got on one. The were the special buses for the MVMCP event and there were so many people going they kept filling up very quickly and another would not come for 15 minutes. We had to stand in the rain for about 45 minutes with a ton of people before we could get on one. and this made everyone VERY cranky!! In hindsight we should have either headed over to that area in the late afternoon or called a cab to get us there. This next trip we will be renting a car for the first time. The really nice thing was that if the buses filled at POFQ they would not even go to POR to pick up people they would just head straight to their destination! I'm guessing they would dispatch a bus to POR but how long did those people over there have to wait? This usually happened in the mornings and even when we would head over to POR if we filled up at the first or second stop over there, the buses would just drive right past the people waiting at the other stops(by the mansions)! I always felt so bad for them! Have you been at this time of year before?

Thanks for the input. We are looking for a quiet time. We really do not mind the walk, but from what I have read I think POFQ would be best for us. Is there a specific building we should request there? I just noticed that I put I was going solo. It is more like we are going solo. Hubby and I.

Yes, I defitely think if it is you and your DH you will enjoy POFQ. I think buildings 2 and 5 are nice. We stayed on the courtyard side of building 2 and loved it! It is a non smoking building.Bulidings 2 and 5 are directly across from the main area where the food court is. Here is a good link that will tell you all about it:

POR all the way!!!! It is so romantic and peacefull. The river is great to walk along or take a horse drawn carriage ride!
