All of our ADR's were made back on Easter Sunday (180 days out) but we have one more ADR than we have DDP credits. Which would you pay OOP - I'm thinking either Sci-Fi or 50's but I'm leaning towards Sci-Fi because we don't care for the desserts there. We are 2 adults and 2 children on this trip.

Chef Mickey's (dinner)
Tony's Town Square (dinner)
Sci Fi (lunch)
Coral Reef (dinner)
T-Rex (OOP dinner)
Tusker House (breakfast)
Whispering Canyon Cafe (dinner)
Crystal Palace (lunch)
Cinderella Royal Table (dinner)
50's Prime Time Cafe (dinner)
Chef's de France (lunch)

have you looked at the menus & see what you would order??
All buffets or family style - where there is a set price go to the DDP
Out of what is left - what would be the cheapest?? - or you doing 2 ARDs on the same day that you would eat less at one of them??

get a burger or the Reuben at Sci Fi and a plate lunch at 50s. That would make Sci Fi cheaper for me.

After looking at your list, I would definitely pay OOP for Sci Fi lunch, it will probably be your cheapest meal with or without dessert.

We did Sci-Fi OOP on our last trip - but I don't think that was the best choice for OOP. We did not order desserts, but by the time you added drinks to our choices of entrees, it would have been less expensive to have paid OOP for one of the buffets.

Like a PP had suggested, I would look at the menus and see what you might order at each of the restaurants and compare the total cost of those choices at each restaurant - and don't forget to add in drinks, and dessert if you think you might order - and then pick which one is the lowest total cost.

We have the same issue. We are also going to Sci-Fi and plan on paying for that one OOP. We will probably just get a few appts. and then use a snack credit on something else later if we need it.

We enjoy Sci Fi because of the unique atmosphere and because you don't get hassled. Also, the food is rather good and the portions are nice. Just beware of the seating situation, it is hard to carry a conversation. If you want the 50's atmosphere without the lip, try Tune In Lounge for a midday snack. You can purchase anything on the 50's menu and still enjoy the decor.

All good suggestions but I have a few questions-

Do you ever share meals?
What are your kids ages (are either one 10+?)

Reason I ask is when we use the DDP it's my DM71, my DD11, and myself. Just like when we dine here at home, we will share meals. We had done this quite often at WDW and never had an issue. We have found that by sharing a few meals we always have extra TS to use. :cloud9: That's how we have squeezed in a few extra meals, or even a 2TS or two. Of course, you can't share at buffets, so I'm talking about other sit-down meals.

We go in Sept. and we find that we don't want to eat too much. (must be the heat!) Sharing meals means we are comfortable after eating, not stuffed. Especially since we don't have dessert, at home, after every meal. ;) Of course, when appetizers were inc. with standard DDP, splitting meals made even more sense. We found that if we didn't share a meal, we would have to order our dessert to-go which meant nothing with ice cream. :scared1:

FYI-you don't have to make all one meal OOP. You can use some credits and opt to pay OOP for the rest. For example for your meal at Coral Reef you might decide to use only 1 adult TS credits and pay OOP for the balance. You or your spouse could order a regular DDP meal and then the other one of you could just order another entree, or an appetizer. And then you could both share. You could also do this with the kids (depending an age and appetite) but most kid's meals are pretty reasonable. Also you'll be eating at Tuskers for breakfast. That meal is $24.50 for adults and 10.99 for kids 3-9. That may turn out to be your cheapest adult TS meal. Most kid's meals (non-buffet) run around $8-9 though there are some that are much more expensive. For example, at Tutto Italia, everything is ala carte on the kid's menu. A kid's meal there inc. appetizer, entree, dessert, and drink will run about $23.

Feel free to ask any more questions you have on the DDP. We have used it since it many times since the first time (Jan. 05-paid for it!) and have become quite the expert. ;) We have had the regular DDP free 5 times and QSDP free once so we have used some sort of DDP 7 times now.

Not to complicate things, but keep in mind that you can split up which you pay for OOP for kids and adults.

OOP at any of the non-buffet TS for kids ordering kids' meals for sure, but take a look at what the adults would order. Tusker House breakfast is relatively cheap (in comparison) at right around the $18-20 range (at least this year), this could actually fall under the cost at Sci-Fi or 50s, depending on what you'd order. Don't forget to add drinks and tax to the planned order at the other TS to compare.

To keep it easier though, Sci-Fi (since you're not interested in desserts there) would likely be the best choice.

since it's a lunch for you at sci fi, i'd suggest paying OOP for that. check out the menus and prices beforehand, and you can figure out how to work your credits to best suit your family :)
