Which one? IA or US?

So here's my little dilemma. In a few months, I will be going to Florida with my HS marching band. We will be doing Disney for a few days, which I am so excited about. This year, we are also doing a day at Universal, which I am so not excited about (went a few years ago, hated it, and said I would never go back). We have the option between US or IA. We can't do both, but we can pick individually where we want to go, it isn't a big group decision where EVERYBODY goes to one place. It will be me and whoever else decides to go with me. There will probably be anywhere between 5 and 10 people in my group and most, if not all, will be seniors. I don't love roller coasters, but I will do a couple if I am dragged on (my friends ALWAYS drag me on to roller coasters anytime we go anywhere). They like roller coasters, but I don't think they will be too upset if we don't hit them all. They just don't like the monstrous ones where you go upside down and do all kinds of flips and turns and stuff and they generally won't do ones where there is no bottom. My question is, which one do you suggest? TIA!!!

do universal studios. mummy is a coaster you will enjoy. no loops, or feet dangling. and half the fun at ioa is hulk or dd, and sounds like those arent for you.

The first time I went to Universal, I too didn't like it...I truly had my Disney blinders on. I'm sorry you didn't like it....But give it another shot! You may be surprised. I went again, thinking I would hate it again, yet, I opened my eyes, was a little more open to it, and found that it was fantastic! I ended up loving it, and in ways, I like it way better than Disney.

Anyways, as for parks, I agree with the above poster. If you aren't looking for coasters, I would suggest the Universal Studios side. Take a look through their website about what each park entails (they have a great description of each!) and go from there.

Given what you said about roller coasters, and since you can only pick one park, I was going to suggest US. But is this the park you visited before and hated? If so, why was that?

We love both parks. In US, Mummy is an amazing ride, and Men in Black is something we (adults and kids) love to do over and over, ET is very cute, Jaws is a hoot, we all love Jimmy Neutron and Shrek. The Horror Make-up Show gets great reviews on the DIS and other places but we haven't managed to see that yet. Terminator is really interesting (not everyone's cup of tea, but not scary to kids your age, special effects are very impressive). Earthquake (this is a pre-rehab review) and Twister are worth experiencing once, but aren't in the top tier of attractions here in my book.

Thanks for the advice so far.

We went to both. We had 5 day passes and that was entirely too much time to spend there. Personally, I was bored by late afternoon on the first day. After that trip, I said I wouldn't rush back. Had no particular desire to go back anytime soon, but I would consider going for a day sometime in the future. Then they started airing those commercials attacking other parks, particularly Disney and that really turned me off to them. I feel that if a company has to resort to pointing out negatives of the competition then they don't deserve my business. A) Don't you have enough positive qualities in your company that you can just focus on those and B) Isn't it kind of classless to bring other companies into the mix. I did a marketing project for Verizon and they were VERY clear that in advertising they do not say anything about the competition n their advertising and we were not supposed to use those tactics other. (Sorry, that was a bit of a tangent).

I don't want to be mean but were are you seeing these commercials cause I have never seen them and if you watch the travel channel and see the stuff for and about disney they are the ones that attack universal and come on disney has no threat from universal cause as long as there are kids disney will alway have buisness and why can't universal get some of the buisness too.
personally I went to disney and universal and I loved universal a whole lot more and thats just me and I know no matter my oppinion some people love disney and some love universal

Select US side since you are not into roller coasters, and probably fast rides in general.

well since both coasters are the real main draw at IOA and they both have the things you don't like in a coaster i would say US.
