We are planning a Dec. trip and are trying to save $$, yet still be as close as possible to the parks. We stayed at Candy Cane once before and liked it especially since they have their own shuttle and a good free breakfast. The other two hotels I was thinking of are HoJo and Carrousel Inn....There will be 5 adults and 3 children...we could do a 2 bedroom suite or just 3 rooms.....Any advice as to what would be the best deal, easiest to get to parks etc etc...? Thanx!

Well HoJo is great, we've stayed there a few times! Carousel is alot closer and I don't know if you plan on taking the shuttle. After 3 days at the HoJo with a 4 and 1 year old and being pregnant, I could not physically walk it anymore! I really want to try Candy Cane since we never have and the shuttle is a great perk! If you do all want to stay together, a friend of mine just stayed in a two room suite at the Carousel and said it was great.

Sorry I am not much help as I debate these three all the time also! If you can get the Entertainment rate at the HoJo, you really can't go wrong even if you had to pay for ART for all of you! Although Carousel does get some low rates but seems to sell out fast! Good luck with your planning! It is beautiful there in December!

I've stayed at Carousel and HoJo. While you can't beat the convenience of Carousel and the room was clean and large, I prefer HoJo overall. I guess because it seems the most hotel-like, as opposed to a motel, and the atmosphere is nice and service is good and efficient. It is slightly further away though. We would walk to the park in the morning and catch the shuttle back after a long day at the parks.

Not to make things even more confusing for you, but I've also stayed at Best Western Park Place Inn, which is also very convenient to the parks, and it was also quite spacious and nice. A friend of mine with a large family (husband and 3 daughters) likes Desert Inn and Suites.

I have Stayed at the Fairfiled, Tropicanna, Park inn and Suites and Carousel, Out of the 4 I would choose the Fairfield. Its clean, the staff is excellent, Big pool, Snack shop, good view fo disneyland and fireworks from the higher floors.

Just my 2 cents :)

Thanks everyone...I appreciate the input. The Fairfield sounds good...maybe we will have to try that on a future trip...We have decided on the Candy Cane for the shuttle... and the decent (and FREE) breakfast, as this is a budget trip.
