Which off site hotel?

We're staying at the Hyatt Place across from Universal (Caravan Court). It looks like they have nice rooms from the pictures. They have two Q beds and then a half wall and then a sleeper sofa that pulls out. I like how it's separate from the beds. Will fit my family of 5 nicely. Plasma TV and free continental breakfast. Also Starbucks coffee, ahhhhhh!!!
I originally booked for $129 per nght + tax and then used my mastercard points for the rest of the nights. However, I saw they were now at $99 per night so I called and they changed my rate to $99.
I will say that everytime I call there, I get someone who is helpful and nice.

I also, have this one booked too. Got a AAA rate of $89 per night....just don't know which reservation I will keep. If you don't mind what days are you going???

I have had fairly good experiences with Comfort Inns and other Choice hotels. I reserved a couple months ago 2 nights at Comfort Suites Universal South @ $ 53.00 a night plus tax for a short trip at the end of June. I believe it is about 2 or 3 miles south of Universal. I don't expect to spend any time there other than sleeping, a quick bite in the morning at the continental breakfast and maybe a swim.

We're going April 1st - 5th.
I am using my Mastercard points for 2nd, 3rd and 4th of April and just paying for April 1st night at $99+tax. I don't have AAA.
I was real happy when I called a few days ago and said that I saw online a rate of $99 per night and I was booked for $129. The guy was nice about it and changed my rate to $99.
How about you? When are you going?
Sue

I would also suggest trying hotels.com cause I have always had good luck with them and they are the one that turned us onto The Doubletree and gave us a great deal on rates :thumbsup2

We are going 4/3 - 4/9...we'll overlap a few days (if I can make up my mind :confused3 ). I originally booked Four Point Studio City because we stayed there about 4 years ago. Then I thought well it's 4 of us this time so, we may need more room. So, I booked Homewood Suites because I do like the location on International Drive. Then I thought it would be neat to be across the street from Universal so, we could walk. Also, it's cheaper but we are losing the use of a full kitchen, 1 TV & of course space. Now, I'm trying to decide will we be in the room enough to justify an additional $100 or is the location of the Hyatt best. I know $100 is not that much difference but, hey every dollar counts!

O boy...HELP! Calgon take me away :)

Yes, you don't know the hotel until you buy it. If you have your heart set on a certain hotel then I wouldn't use it. If you really don't care what hotel you're in as long as its decent you can save a lot of money. I always pick at least a 3* and have never been disappointed with what we got.
That's what I thought...glad you've been happy with the hotels so far.

the way i "knew" it was the crowne plaza that i was buying was that i first went into the "book a vacation" or something like that. hotwire lists the package deals and actually lists the hotels that you choose based upon the star rating and area you choose. i then looked at all the amenities of the that hotel, went back over to "book a hotel", matched the amenities, star rating, area etc--and it worked. i've done this 2x and i had to wait it out to get the rate( i booked another hotel early, then checked hotwire regularly)
