Our T-Day choices are:

Whispering Canyon
Ft. Wilderness Dinner
Trails End
1900 Park Fare

We're looking for a very much homestyle Thanksgiving. The kind of Thanksgiving where you go outside and toss a football around after dinner. I'm leaning steadily towards Trails End, because it is casual and would provide that homestyle feel we're looking for for a large group with grandparents, parents, teens, and little ones. Trails End is the cheapest Thanksgiving meal in the World I think, which is great but also concerns me. This doesn't have to be the best meal of our lives. In the evening after the toddlers are in bed, the grandparents will stay in and drink coffee, the teens will explore, and dh and I will have cocktails in the Wilderness Lodge lounge.

So which of those Thanksgiving Day meals do you recommend?

Thanks!

Shel

We ate at Trails End last Thanksgiving and enjoyed it quite a bit. From your description, it would be very suitable. There's even a playground nearby for the kids, and I'm pretty sure there was some open space the you could even take a ball and toss it around it bit if you wanted. :)

Now, having said that... If you already have reservations and are trying to decide which one to keep, that's great! If you don't have the ADR's yet, then call immediately, as it could be difficult to get anything and you might just have to take whatever is available.

We actually did the first carriage ride of the night around the campground last year after Thanksgiving dinner and it was enjoyable. It was nice seeing the campground in a little bit of light, and towards the end of the ride, it was getting darker, and we got to see all of the lighted displays people had set up at the campsites.

Good luck with your decision!

 Thanksgiving 2007. I'm an eager planner. :Pinkbounc

It sounds like the perfect spot for us! I forgot about the playground! Oh my goodness, I wish it was THIS Thanksgiving. We arrived Sat after Thanksgiving last year and it is just an amazing time of year there!

Thanks!

I agree, Trails End sounds like exactly what you're looking for. We've been there many times and always enjoyed the food. It's casual, but everything is tasty. Glad to hear that you're looking for Thanksgiving 07. WDW restaurants get filled up really quickly on Thanksgiving, especially the resort restaurants, because there's no park admission to go eat at them.

We were in WDW for Thanksgiving 2004. I called first thing in the morning and wasn't able to get my first couple of restaurant choices unless I wanted to book after 8:30 pm. We wound up at Grand Floridian Cafe, which was really delicious, but probably not the atmosphere you're looking for.

Of those, I would say Whispering Canyon. But have you considered Liberty Tree Tavern? It would be perfect for Thanksgiving given it's Colonial America atmosphere and fare including things like cranberry glazed turkey and what not.
