I know you don't want John first, but I like Thomas John.

My husband is John Anthony.

I also like Charles (many Charleses in my family) and Henry.

At one time Charles was on the list - I'm not sure what happened to it though. I think we just forgot we'd talked about it.... I might have to bring it back up.

And now my husband added James to the list, which we would have to use William with because James John sounds funny to me. So James William might be an option.

Was this as hard for everyone else as it is for us?? Every name we come up with we critique, tear apart, say over and over..... I had no idea how hard this was going to be.

Yes - naming is hard. My DH was not too forthcoming with suggestions - just good at nixing suggestions I gave.

My second son was Nicholas for most of my pregnancy. And became Noah about a week before. The right name WILL come to you, I promise!

FYI - William Ryan is the name of a popular homebuilder around here. Not sure how widespread they are...but I know I would always think of that if I saw that name!

Don't worry. Your baby will go home from the hospital with a name!
Our older daughter was easy. She is Margaret Elise (Meg). Our younger daughter was harder because we had already used the two girl names I loved. We decided about two weeks before she was born that she would either be Trevor if she was a boy or Shannon if she was a girl. Her middle name was up in the air but came very easy after the fact. She was born early and my husband was 2000 miles away and couldn't get home in time. Her middle name, Marie, is in honor of the two people who rushed to my aid and attended her birth - my friend Mary and my sister-in-law, whose middle name is also Marie.

I voted for Daniel. Isnt that one of the top 10 boys names. I think it is here in NY if I am not mistaken.

I love the sound of James William - and he could be called Jimmy (I love nicknames for kids)!

Names are hard - We didn't name our first born until immediately after birth(hubby had desperately wanted a junior - but I was dead-set against it. After going through the entire birth process he ended up agreeing with the name I liked most ).
Our second child didn't have a name until she was about 6 hours old - she's now 3mo old and I still question whether I chose the "right" name. IME, boys names are easier to choose then girls.

Basically, I would say - just go with your gut. What name do you LOVE? I have one family member who recently told me she regrets not choosing her favorite name for her youngest child (and the child is now 3). Instead of following her heart she listened to the opinions other family members - she liked the name she ended up choosing, but it wasn't her "favorite".
