I like Patrick and Thomas, but only if used as Patrick and Thomas. I am not a fan of nicknames. What about Patrick Thomas or Thomas Patrick? ;)

Michelle :flower3:

My feelings on these names, too (although I have a Charlie). I find most classic boy names are not using nicknames these days (not many Danny's, Billy's, or Tommy's here).

Take the first names from the top two choices and make it Daniel Patrick.

John is DH's name, and he doesn't want a junior. The middle name doesn't have to be John, but I would like to give him his dad's name, and it's an easy middle name.

This is what we did with our son.... I like that, it gives them a bit of their father......

We like Benjamin too, and it's actually still on the long list. It, however, has that one problem where you know a bratty kid by that name, and you just can't get that out of your head. :headache:

DH doesn't like Nathaniel or Nathan (both of which I do like), or Isaac. Jordan is a unisex name which I'm trying to avoid, and I haven't included Wesley or Timothy as options. I'll have to throw them out there and see what he thinks.

I like anything with Patrick!!!

I like anything with Daniel!!!

Not on the list is Christopher....Christopher John = CJ!!!

Not a fan of Gabe or Gabriel at all.

My DS' are Christopher Brett (Brett is DH's first name) and Michael Patrick!!

Aw, I HATE that.

We went through so many names when we were having our DD, and one of us would be like, "No, I don't like that name because I knew a girl named XYZ and she was a jerk." or "I knew a guy named ZYX and he's a dork."

OR- someone we knew already had a kid by that name. Loved the name Olivia- but cousins on each side already had babies named Olivia.

I like Patrick John but only if he's called Patrick.

I like Gabriel but I cant stand Gabe--- it reminds me of a scab for some reason. Love most all the others though.

I wouldn't do "Gabe" if your last name starts with a "B". I had a friend who had one of those names and everyone always ran them together and yelled it. Nobody was making fun of him - it was just fun to do. But it bugged the hell out of him.

I like Tommy and Patrick. :)

The whole Gabe thing would be awkward when your surname starts with B - as you've no doubt realised already it will come out sounding like Gay Bradford (or whatever your name is). Not that there's anything WRONG with that. :lmao: :thumbsup2 But nor would I inflict a child with the name Straight Bradford (or whatever) you know? Kids being kids, he's sure to have a hard time with that one.

I voted for Ryan John.

I love Thomas John but I HATE when names are shortened to "TJ, DJ, PJ", etc. Very bad connotations for me.

DS#1 was supposed to be Ryan but we switched to Luke when he was born.

DS #2 was supposed to be Thomas, but since his middle name was to start with a T, too, I didn't want his initials to be TTC - just had to deal with so much infertitily, his initials would always represent "Trying To Conceive" to me.

Congrats again!

The only name I really don't like it Martin. I have known 2 in my life and both have been duds.

I like Patrick, but I think "PJ" is too diminutive of a nickname.

I actually just realized that thanks to Cool-Beans post. Then I thought I was thinking too much into it until you came out and said what I was thinking. Probably best to avoid it both to avoid any obvious nicknames, and because you are supposed to avoid names that end with the same letter as your last name starts with. Sad, because Gabriel was one of my favorites.

Just read again and saw that John isn't the set middle name.

What about Ryan William or Thomas William?

I like Elijah John or Lucas John

What about Luke William?

James William?

Joseph William?

Henry William? Henry John?

Isaiah John?

Matthew John?

Josiah William?

Paul William?

Seth William?

Joel William?

I like William better for a middle name because it seems to have more substance.

I like just about all of them. Martin is probably my favorite because you don't encounter it that much, but it's still a traditional name.

I agree. I go for the traditional but not Michael, John, David, etc.. too many of them. Also, names like Gabriel and all its feminine forms - Gabriella, Abigail, etc.. are HUGE on the up and coming lists of names. I like a name that is traditional and strong but at the same time unique. :)

I have a friend who named their kid William. Instead of Will, they call him Liam.

I also like Jack. Dh never liked Jack, and I lost that in our name battle! :rotfl:

Out of our two boys names, I would think that Carter sounds the most strong and distinguished. Although, I love the name Cayden. It's fun loving. Both names fit my boys personalities perfectly.

Our son Carter, his middle name is Scott, after family.

We also considered Carter James.

Good luck!:thumbsup2

I think they're all nice choices. I guess if I have to choose, Gabe is nice and not overly popular. One of my twins is named Thomas, which I love.

When are you due?

If you give your son a different middle name than his dad, he isn't a junior. That is what my grandfather did with my dad. Same first name, different middle name, no junior.
Same with my DH. He is named after his dad, who is named after his dad. Different middle names. My son is named after all of them, different middle name, no junior. :thumbsup2 We call our son by his middle name just so there is no confusion with all the Thomases in the family. :rotfl2: Gave my second son the Thomas as his middle name. We don't call him by his middle name. ;)

How about a variation of John.

Jonathan Lucas - shorting to Jon or Jon-Luc. Or using the middle name Luc or Luke

From your list, I like Patrick John the best, just reversed - John Partrick
