We are going to Disneyland in about a month!!!
To get my youngest kids ready (2 1/2 and 5) we are trying to watch some movies so they will enjoy the rides more. What movies do you suggest we watch that go with rides or attractions?
I will keep updating post #1 as the list grows.
So far:
Peter Pan
Sleeping Beauty
Aladdin
Toy Story and Toy Story 2,
Finding Nemo,
Alice in Wonderland
Monsters Inc.
Lion King,
Cinderella
Pinocchio
Winnie the Pooh Movie
Wind in the Willows
Snow White
The Sword in the Stone
The Little Mermaid
A Bug's Life
Dumbo
Tarzan
The Spirit of Mickey & Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
Beauty and The Beast
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Muppets
Tom Sawyer
Tinker Bell Movie

For the older kids & Adults:
Indiana Jones
Star Wars
Pirates

I would say, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Alice in Wonderland and Monsters Inc. Lion King, Cinderella and anything with Mickey would also be great.

Edit:Oh, and any of the older Winnie the Pooh movies. The kids will love those.

My dd is 5 and loves Mr. Toad and Pinnochio too... and Snow White is a classic--but maybe a bit scary for your little one! Although I wouldn't say it is really scarier than Sleeping Beauty. Bug's Life too!!! Heck, just watch as many disney movies as you can!! :rotfl: we have them all, and love them all!!

ETA: Also, you-tube some rides, so they get an idea of what they are all about. We did that for lots of rides before our 1st trip, and had no problem with any of the "dark" rides being scary!

I have never seen a movie that goes with Mr. Toad's wild ride! What is it called??

Thanks for the heads up on that--I'm going to have to buy the Wind in the Willows dvd from amazon, but I think I will wait until I find another one on this list that we don't have yet! (I love amazon's free shipping over $25:-)

Any other movies anyone can think of that go with rides or attractions at DLR?

Here is a list for you. go thru and see what looks best for you. Hope it helps.:wizard:

Wow, DisneyMax74, that is an amazing list! Thanks for listing all the Disney movies ever made!

Can everyone please help me look through the list to see if I have missed any movies that have rides/attractions at Disneyland or California Adventure?

So far:
Peter Pan
Sleeping Beauty
Aladdin
Toy Story,
Finding Nemo,
Alice in Wonderland
Monsters Inc.
Lion King,
Cinderella
Pinocchio
Winnie the Pooh Movie
Wind in the Willows
Snow White
The Sword in the Stone
The Little Mermaid
A Bug's Life
Dumbo

Is your 5 year old going to ride Splash?? Then something with Brer Rabbit would be good... I think Song of the South... but we have a Brer Rabbit movie that is not Disney made, and it is good...

Tarzan for Tarzan's treehouse...

Beauty and the Beast (gotta cover all the princesses!)

I wish we could see Song of the South, at least the part with Briar Rabbit, but no luck buying that on amazon, I just looked :( I do have the story in a book by Disney, so we just have to settle for the book on that one. Thanks for the reminder on Tarzan--somehow in my brain it is still the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House :rotfl:

I'll add Beauty and the Beast too!

Splash Mountain is based on Song of the South, which you'd have to buy on VHS from eBay.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit, for Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin

Toy Story 2

Star Wars, if you plan on taking the 5yo on Star Tours

You know what? If you don't mind watching Song of the South in 10 minute chunks, the whole thing is up on Youtube. We watched it after our trip in last month, because my daughter fell in love with Splash Mountain but didn't have any of the story context. She really enjoyed it.

As for movies, my kid is a little older, but she watched all of the Indiana Jones movies as well as Pirates before we left last time, in addition to a bunch of the classic Disney animated films.

And everywhere we went, she kept telling me what rides they should add. "There should be a Mulan ride. There should be a 101 Dalmations ride..."

I asked her how big she thought Disneyland was. :)

I don't think any of us have seen "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", older kids and adults included. Thanks!

While it's not a movie, you might watch a few episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on the disney channel if your kids aren't already familiar with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald and Daisy.

I don't think any of us have seen "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", older kids and adults included. Thanks!

I can't stand that movie. My daughter LOVES it, but it grates on my much the same way that Pee Wee Herman does.

I may be alone in my opinion, but don't say you weren't warned. ;)

FlameGirl--Thanks for the heads up on WFRR, I can see that I might have a problem with the kids watching the Jessica character  I'm also going to end up spending the better part of a day watching YouTube in the next week or two! Thanks for letting us know it is there.

EagleFlyer--It is a good reminder to watch MMCH for those that don't know, but we do watch that one TONS. We love it--thanks!

We also watched a few ride along videos on youtube. I'm not sure how helpful they were ahead of time but our 2.5 year old loves watching them still, about 4 months after our trip.

I will definitely head to youtube for some rides, especially Haunted Mansion and Pirates, to help the little ones not be so scared.
Great suggestions!:goodvibes

Any other movies you can think of that go with rides or attractions at DLR?

Star Wars for Star Tours & Jedi Academy. Tom Sawer for Tom Sawyers Island and Mark Twain River Boat. Anything with The Mupets, and Honey I Shrunk the Kids.
