Which moderate?

Since I want the free dining with TS meals, I am forced to stay at a moderate resort. Which one do you like or not like and why?

We love port Orleans whether it is riverside or French quarter either is great. One is has two sections two it has multiple pools three it has a great New Orleans feel four they have some good food. I would choose POR if I had to choose between the two sections because the of new princess and the frog rooms.

I'm not crazy about CBR because the beds are smaller. I like all the others.

Last August, my adult daughter and I spent a week at Port Orleans French Quarter, and I can not say enough good things about it.

I like the smaller resorts and this one is quite compact. After a long day in the park, it took no time to get off the bus, change in the room, and plop in the pool.

The pool was alway warm and well attended. The dragon water slide is a blast, even for adults. There was enough room for us to be in the pool, but not "with" other people.

We did not share the bus with another resort, so travel to the parks took no longer then it needed to. You can also boat to Downtown Disney to shop or bus-hop to another resort.

The arcade was quiet when we went, but we probably played in there for a half-hour. The gift shop is great and the Cast Members were awesome.

The lobby almost always had a cute old man Cast Member giving out little trinkets, like bead necklaces or plastic coins.

The cafe was good enough. We ususally got a breakfast pastry there. I found the layout a little odd compared to other resorts I have stayed at. It was close quarters for food fetching. The seating area is very open though. There was alway a cast member keeping it clean. There is a little corner with coloring sheets and crayons. There is no table service restaurant here, but there is at Port Orleans Riverside, which we took a walk through one night and thought it was beautiful.

We stayed by the river, facing the courtyard. At night they played movies in the courtyard and eventhough we were facing the movie area, we could not hear or see the movie or the people from our room. On the nights we wanted to watch we were right there to participate.

The rooms are great. Our room was very clean, the bed was comfy, and the bathroom was clean and in working order.

We did not get to do the carriage ride, as it rained every time it was scheduled to be available. :( We also did not get to the playground (too old) or the hot tub (too full). Both spots were always hoppin'. We did get drinks at the bar right by there, though. Mmm, mmm.

Basically, if you move a little bit (or a lotta bit) everytime a Zatarains commercial comes on, you will enjoy it. It really does feel like you were plopped in a nice NOLA suburb.

You do have the option of booking a Value resort and upgrade to the standard dining plan if that's what you would prefer (vs. staying in a moderate resort).

I have not been to Coronado Springs, but love CBR, POR, and POFQ, each for a different reason: CBR with its 2 story buildings large size and beautiful lake make for a wonderful "wide open" feeling you don't get in most other resorts. POR, is also a beautiful resort but in a very different way. It has lots of trees and the feeling of being in the wood by a river. POFQ is much smaller with quaint streets. If you want less walking and quick bus service, POFQ is for you. The others are more spread out but it isn't a big deal to me. CBR rooms are slightly bigger, I think, but have full not queen beds like the others. You can't go wrong!

All mods are better than values for alot of reasons. Bigger rooms, better pools, hottubs, more relaxing. To upgrade dining at a value it's almost the same price- so one might as well go moderate!!!!

POFQ is the smallest. All the rest have multiple bus stops. It also has a good food court and pool. It's beautiful and is convenient to Downtown.

We vote for POFQ ..... :thumbsup2
P.S. OP Sorry your "forced" to stay at a moderate :rotfl2:

No one is forcing you to stay at a moderate resort.

You can stay at a value resort and pay the extra amount to upgrade to the DDP from the QSDP.

You can stay at a moderate resort and get the DDP.

You can stay at a deluxe resort and get the DDP.

The choice is yours. No one will force you to stay at one level over another.

And, despite what one of the pps opines, not everyone thinks that all of the mods are better than all of the values. There are plenty of folks who actually prefer the values, and not just because of the money they save.

There are pros and cons to each of the mods, if that is the level that you really prefer to stay at this time. Every resort has its fans and its detractors. The best way to choose is simply to read the info on each of the resort specific threads and look closely at all the resort photos. Just go with the one that appeals most to you. There is no right and wrong.

Our favourite resort is POFQ (for all of the reasons given by PPs). But if you need a resort with better pool amenities, I'd go with POR.

Hahahah - the term "forced" was used because I am a cheapo!! I am always looking for the best value that I can!!

I have always been a value kind of person. We all just sleep there anyway so I don't care much about the actual hotel.

That is why I used that term. I don't like to spend more for something that it is not necessary but the free dining for 5 adults and 1 child is a huge deal for us!!

Thanks to all who posted. What I am going to do is actually crunch numbers and see if for all of us, it is a better value to stay at a mod over a value, if not, I will just pay to upgrade the dining and stay at the value :)

Thank you all!!
