Which moderate should we choose ? (Poll)

Hello everyone!

My family is currently trying to decide which of the three moderates we have not been to for our next vacation in August 2008.

We have already been to Coronado Springs, and thought it was a beautiful resort, but didn't like that it was so large and spread out. We have a family of my parents, my sister, aged 8, and me, age 13.

So, based on this, which resort do you guys think we should choose?

CBR is a beautiful resort as well but it is also spread out, last time I was there it seemed to take forever to walk to the pool and food court. I think your best choice would be Port Orleans Riverside. It is not quite as big, has a nice pool and play area that I think you would enjoy, and supposedly has the best arcade of any resort. POFQ is smaller but I think the pool and play areas are themed more for younger kids and I think you and your sister would like POR better; there is more to do there. POR is where I plan to stay if we decide on a moderate resort next year, I thought it would be best for my 16 year old son.

We love the CBR - just be sure to request a room close to the food court.

We really like the CBR. Some guests think it is too spread out but that's part of it's appeal to our family. We never felt crowded no matter where we were in the resort.

The promenade/walkway around the entire lake is just 1.4 miles and Old Port Royale (main pool/food court/restaurant, etc.) is right in the middle. So, even if you were at the farthest point in the resort, the walk is never more than half that. Most of time, you're much closer.

The theming at the CBR is fantastic. Lots of bright colors. Tropical music plays all around. Hammocks and beach chairs on each village's beach. An island in the middle of the lake.

The rooms are a bit larger than the other moderate resorts. I really appreciate the extra space since we ALWAYS bring too much and we ALWAYS buy too many souveniers.

The bus service was very good during both of our stays. Because the CBR is centrally located, it never took us long to get to any Disney destination. The CBR doesn't share bus service with any other resort which is a plus in my book.

The food court had a larger selection of items to choose from than what we expected. We never had a problem finding a table to sit at either.

Port Orleans Riverside has a more deluxe feel to it - the best overall amenities in my opinion.

The French Quarter is small....every room is close to everything....

Most times shares buses with POR but POFQ is 1st on and off the bus...
Great themed pool....
Small pool slide though....great for young kids.

POFQ is the one for you if you want a small resort. We stayed there in 2002, but it has been renovated since then. It's a nicely themed resort and it is connected to POR, so you can enjoy both resorts while staying there.

Another advantage is the boat to DTD... hope you have a good time whatever you choose.

I love Port Orleans French Quarter!!! It is my favorite moderate resort! It's small and compact, so no matter which building you are in (I recommend building #: 5), it's a quick walk to everything. Have stayed at POR & CBR and hated both. Way too spread out for my taste.

It's a beautiful resort and small enough that everything is so close. I went without my kids this trip but, I think they would have liked the pool. It was very nice and they have a great slide! I believe you can also use the pools, etc at POR, which is a short walk along the river.

It's also nice to take the riverboat to DTD for shopping and some good places to eat. When I was there last February the resort was booked solid our first night, but we had no problems taking the buses. We never even had to share buses with POR on the way to the parks. A few times leaving the parks, we did share with POR, but we were always the first to be dropped off.

If you want a "beachy" theme...I would stay at CBR. It looks beautiful!

Another vote for POFQ! On our last stay at POR we walked over to the FQ part and couldn't believe how beautiful it was (POR is beautiful as well, just a lot more spread out). I love how small POFQ is, the fact that it is a shared resort with POR so you can enjoy everything both resorts have to offer, and they also have the DTD boat, which we love.

POFQ is my favorite moderate, I thought all the other moderates were too big to get around. Although POR is great too, especially if you can get a room close to the food court.

Loved POFQ. POR was too spread out- took over 20 minutes to go get coffee in the morning. I also recommend Building #5. It is perfectly located.

We really like POFQ & CSR. So given your post, I picked POFQ. It will fix the exact issue that you had with CSR.

I voted for POR. I like both Port Orleans resorts, but the pool slide at POFQ is more for little kids than ones your age. The pool at POR is much nicer! And the boat ride to DTD is wonderful! Much faster than the busses, and the whole ride is very pretty.

I don't like the set up of the CBR. The whole check in area being seperate from the rest of the resort is just weird to me. Plus it has sooo many bus stops, and I wouldn't want to pay the extra $$ a night to be closer to the main building.

I have another questionn ,
Since the two port orleans have a shared bus route, does it take longer than, say, CS ?

We were there last year February 12-19th (leading into Pres. week). During our stay we only went once to POR to pick up guests there. It was an early morning bus because we had a reservation at CP at MK before the park opened. Otherwise, we never went to POR--we just went straight to the parks. We often shared buses from the parks back to the resort (usally mid-day) and it was never a problem. We never had to stand and we were always dropped off first.

The worst bus route was to DTD in the evening...the buses were packed. I'm glad it was a short ride!

It was extremely crowded the week we were there...POFQ was completely booked the day we checked in. I think that the crowds increased even more as the week went on (I'm not sure, but I think that the Daytona 500 was happening around the same time too...)

I've never stayed at CSR, so I can't compare what their bus situation is...

I'm not a big fan of taking the bus...but, it was o.k. The bus was the best for going to MK--you are dropped off very close to the front gates. We did have a rental car for part of our stay and we had a AAA parking pass, so we drove to AK, MGM and EPCOT. We liked the close parking that we had with the pass.

Another thing to consider is that the pool area at CBR wiill be closed for major refurbishment during August (Jan-Sep) next year.
