Which moderate resort is your favorite and why?

We have stayed at CBR and POR and visited POFQ, so I can speak to those.

I loved CBR. We were there before the pool refurb, so I'd love to go back and see the new one. The resort is lush and tropical. The lake is beautiful and the beach around it is a great place to unwind. The rooms are slightly larger than the other MODs. The only drawbacks are the double beds and the need for a room refurb. However, it is rumored that a refurb next year will correct all that. I can't wait to see if it's true.

POR is also beautiful. We stayed in Acadian House in the Mansions. It's a very peaceful resort. It never took more than five minutes to get anywhere for us. The boat to DTD is an awesome feature. The main pool is great, as are the quiet pools. We did not eat at Boatwright's, but the QS place is good.

As for POFQ, this is probably where we'll be staying next year. It's a small resort just down the river from POR. It only has one pool, but it seems to be a nice one. However, you can use the pools at POR if you want to. When we walked around, the New Orleans type buildings gave the resort a truly quaint, welcoming feel. We were really impressed with it. They've had a refurb within the last few years as well.

As for the bus service, if you ask twenty different people, you will get twenty completely different answers. I do not recall waiting more than ten minutes for a bus at either CBR or POR. The most we've ever waited was twenty minutes, but that was at MK after MNSSHP. When we stayed at POR, we only shared a bus at POFQ a couple of times. All in all, I've always found Disney transportation to be very efficient.

As far as moderates, I have only stayed at CBR. I like the Caribbean colors of the villages, the tropical feel, and the pool. The buses weren't bad either.

Thank you so much for all of your opinions! My cousins and I are hoping to take a trip in the spring if everything goes as planned...Keep your fingers crossed for us! pixiedust:

We like POR because it is the only one where all 5 of us can stay in a room, LOL!

In all seriousness though, we have found their food court to be among the best on property, the CM's were fabulous, the resort was very tranquil, we like having the boat to DTD option and we never had a problem with the buses.

It's also been refurbished recently and I really like the looks of the new rooms.

Overall, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.:thumbsup2

I agree. The nice thing is that there is something for everyone. If you like that colorful, tropical feel, go with CBR. If you like a Southwest flair that is a little more upscale, there's CSR. If you like Southern charm, go with POR or POFQ. Even within POR, you can choose the elegance of the mansions or the rustic nature of the bayou. It all comes down to taste and preference. No matter where you choose, it's Disney!

I hate the POR with a passion. I do, I hate everything about it. It's crowded, the bus service is atrocious, and their food court is a nightmare. The only thing I have nice to say about it is that the boat service to DTD was quite pleasant. That, and the newly refurbished rooms are cute.

The CSR FAR outshines the other moderates in my opinion. It's like a moderate+. It has amenities the others don't, like the fitness center and a brand new club level that they call "business class", that is several hundred dollars cheaper than club level at a deluxe resort. Their pool is huge with an amazing slide, and the theme is beautiful. I also love that they don't share a bus with another resort, one of my main beefs with both the Port Orleans properties. It's also extremely well located, it doesn't look like it from the map but I felt like it took us less time to get places from CSR than any other resort we've stayed at. Our bus was also never crowded, at any time of day.

We love both of these. Pools are great, food courts are convenient, buses worked really well. Highly recommend!

We have stayed at both CBR and POR and love both of them. As you can see from my signature though POR is our moderate of choice now. Love the food court, the walking paths, the landscaping....it feels like home!
