We generally stay at Swan or YC but budget dictates a moderate this summer. We're leaning towards POFQ or POR, but would welcome any opinions. We like new and clean so thought we'd be happiest with whichever resort has been upgraded most recently. Thanks in advance for your wealth of knowledge.

Port Orleans just was recently renovated and I understand both the FQ and Riverside are very nice. Refrigerators are now standard in the rooms. The Riverside AB section also offers the trundle bed for a 5th person (child or young adult under 5 ft.)

When I made my reservation at POFQ the CM told me it was a great choice because it was most recently renovated. This will be my first time on property so going by her word, I guess that is the answer!

We stayed in POFQ last August and will be back there in July. It was very nice. Food court and pool are also very good.

We were at POR for Spring Break and it was completely rennovated. We love it there! We just visited POFQ, we haven't stayed there, but it seemed more hotel-ish than POR. People talk about POR being more spread out than POFQ and it is, but you also have Boatwrights Table service restaurant and Bob Jackson the piano man, who is tons of fun for the whole family. We used the pools at both POR and POFQ and the kids loved them equally the same. POR also has quiet pools in addition to the main pool on Ole Man Island. You can rent a fishin' pole and fish from the pier at Ole Man Island and rent boats from the dock. You also have the boat to DTD which is a nice relaxing trip. The atmosphere is kind of Tom Sawyer-ish, laid back Southern Charm is a nice change of pace after the busy parks.

I'd go with POFQ. We stayed there last year after the renovations. Before this, we had only stayed in deluxes. The rooms are really pretty, the grounds are immaculate, there is a fun pool and a nice food court. This moderate resort is compact, so there really isn't too far of a walk anywhere. The bus is shared with POR, but the FQ is the first pick up. And there is a boat to DTD. We are going to AKL in a week, but we wouldn't hesitate to stay at POFQ again if going to a mod. We loved it!

Don't forget to try the beignets! :wave2:

I really appreciate all the responses. I like the idea of the boat to DTD from POFQ, it increases the restaurant choices. Does POFQ have non-smoking buildings?

We just got back from 5 nights at POFQ and 4 nights at POR-AB and both rooms were renovated and just great. They did a really nice job on both resorts and you will not be disappointed, even though these are moderate resorts. We have stayed at deluxe and moderate resorts and the nice thing about moderates, even tho they don‘t have balconys, is that you walk directly out of your room to the outside and not out on to a long hallway. You really have the feeling of more privacy because of this. I hope you like POR. It is my favorite place—both FQ and Riverside. We stayed in Blgd. 2, with a view of the Sassagoula River, in FQ and in building 36—waaaay in the back—of Riverside, Alligator Bayou, and were really pleased with both rooms.
Have fun.
