I need to book a Moderate for one night at the beginning of our DVC stay at Bay Lake Tower and I would like to be close to MK without having to book a Deluxe. We arrive after 6 p.m. so I don't want to put much money into that one/first night's stay. We have only stayed one night in a Value a few years ago on our last night of a Nov. trip. Didn't care for the All Star Music at all. I don't know if any values are even close to MK. ??? THANKS!!!

As you can see from the map, none of the mods are close to the MK. I don't think that any resort has a significantly shorter commute to the MK, either. So just pick the resort you like the looks of.

Thanks for the map....I have not seen that in years. :) Okay I think we will end up staying at WL probably. I forgot I can get a 40% military discount. It will be close to MK too. It is the least expensive compared to the monorail hotels.

If you can get a military discount, why not just stay at Shades of Green? It's a really nice deluxe-type resort at a moderate price.

We just stayed at SOG in May. The reason we don't want to is because of luggage being moved to BLT. We are flying in and it is so easy to have the Disney resorts move your luggage.

As mentioned, none are any closer to MK then another really. My fav mod is POR, but since you're only there for 1 night, you may prefer POFQ for the small size. No room is too far away from main buildings. Rooms have queen beds.

Only mod I've stayed at is POR and I can say the commute to MK from POR/POFQ was pretty quick - less than 10 minutes. It was 15-20 minutes for the other parks. Not sure if any other mod would have a quicker commute to MK.

Sounds like a good plan! ..and you can't beat the 40% military discount! Enjoy your stay at WL! It is a beautiful breathtaking resort! :thumbsup2

Sorry, I have to disagree withthe prevailing trend. POR is going to be your closest mod. - especially since you aare specific in talking about being close to BLT. It's not just about distance on a map - but travel time- like the number of left turns and traffic lights along the way.

If you have a car, you may want to go wiith French Quarter.

the advantage of the mods is that you can often park close to your room - especially if you request to be near parking. that makes transferring rooms a snap.

It also sounds like you kow Disney will transfer luggage for free. the one thig to know thre is that your luggage may not transfer until late afternoon. Especially in summer - that might make an afternoon swim difficult. It also might crimp your timing if you want to shower/change before dinner. (Summer often means getting quite sweaty!) It also cn be tricky if you have medicine or food that needs to be kept cold.

All that said, WL is closer to BLT than POR- but not by all that much.

If you want to do something fun -and will be at the resort quite a bit that first day - consider club level at WL.

No car this trip. We mainly use a car service when we go to Disney. We have driven three times, but this trip we will be relying on Disney transportation. I am having a grocery order delivered but not until Tuesday when we check in at BLT. Thanks for the tips. :)
