Which MK Restaurant on First Night?

My group and I are arriving at WDW in the afternoon, and we are going to MK after checking into the hotel. We are on the dining plan, and cannot decide where to have dinner. Does anyone have any suggestions? There will be four adults, two children and two infants.

Crystal Palace is right in the MK and would have plenty of good food for the adults plus the characters for the children. Also fun, and a short monorail ride away, would be 'Ohana at the Polynesian, or Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary.

Thanks for your quick response! I have been to Crystal Palace for breakfast, which I enjoyed, and have heard a lot of people talk about Chef Mickeys character breakfast. Are the dinners as good?

Actually I haven't had dinner at Crystal Palace in a few years, and never had dinner at Chef Mickeys. Hopefully someone else can answer this, or else you can find reviews for them on another thread. Good luck!

We are planning on going back to Chef Mickey for our first night dinner next time. I think there is nothing better than seeing Mickey and friends to start off your vacation. The characters are really great with children and grownups. The Dinner buffet has standard American choices... craved meats, mashed potates, veggies, salads... the kids have a buffet section too with chicken fingers, mac-n-cheese, etc... I think the plus is that is at the Contemporary Resort so you can take the Monorail to dinner and then jump back on the monorail after dinner to the MK.Have fun!

In my case, we are going to take the monorail after we leave magic kingdom to go to the Polynesian resort and do the Spirit of Aloha which is a really awesome show.

I vote for Liberty Tavern. I always like to start my trips with a chacter dinner and this way you do not have to leave the park. I like Crystal also but for breakfast or lunch
