Which loop?

We're about to book for the first week in March 08 for the first time. Oh, so excited!:cool1: I'm going to be on this board way too much between now and then, I can tell.

ANy advice on which loop? We can request a specific loop can't we? We *might* be taking our dog so if you could advise with and without the "furry kid", that would be really helpful.

We have 3 boys - 6, 3 and baby will be 7 months by then. We have a travel trailer w/ shower so not too bothered about being close to comfort stations. Due to the age of the kids, we'd rather not be close to open water as M can't swim yet (and the dog's likely to jump in at every opportunity). We're going for the Dining Plan too, if possible, because I don't want to cook on this vacation!

Thanks!

I'll try and answer some questions:

1. Loop preference is very personal The preferred loops are closest to the marina and you have to walk back to your campsite and all the rest are a short bus ride. The 1000 and above to around IIRC about 1400 loops are right across from the Settlement Store and the traffic there especially in the early A.M like 4 to 5 for the service vehicles/garbage trucks might concern you. We personally like and favor the 1600/1700 area since the bus trip only has like two stops to the Marina Area and is very quiet and is a nice walk to the Meadows, but like 4 to 6 football filelds away whereas the 1000 can be less than one.

I guess what I'm saying is that is all depends and you have to decide what works for you.

We like being close to the marina so we are able to take the boat to MK, CR etc. Now when I say close to the marina, that doesn't mean your ds can hop into the water! This is a "short walk" in Disney standards! ;) We stayed in loop 400 which is a smaller loop and close enough to walk to the TP, Marina, Crockets Tavern etc. This is NOT a pet loop though. Honestly, it's all up to personal choice and what you want to be "close" to.

Enjoy your first stay at FW!:thumbsup2

Our favorite loop is 700. It is a pet loop, a short walk to the marina and the settlement, and not near water! :goodvibes

Your "fur-baby" is welcomed at the Fort in certain pet loops only, and must be on a leash whenever it is outside. Disney says they require proof that your pet is up to date on vacinations, but I've never been asked to show any certification. That may be because I have cats & they are not allowed out of the MH. Any doggie owners have a different take on that?

As far as loops with no water & where pets are allowed: 1600 & 1700 (full hook-up), 500 & 700 (full hook-up preferred). There are other pet loops, but portions of those loops back up to canals or ponds - and there is no guarantee of what site you would be assigned to within a particular loop.

IMHO, I prefer 1600 & 1700 because they are quiet & the bus stop is just a short walk, as is the Meadow Pool & Trading Post. The 700 loop is close to the marina & TE, but as it is a preferred loop, it costs more $$$. I have yet to figure out why 500 is a preferred loop, except that it has cable. It's not really close to anything except a bus stop - and some sites on that loop are darn near impossible to park anything on except a pop-up! On one curve in the 500 loop, you better like your neighbors, cause the sites are snuggled up close to each other - two sites even share the front of the pads!

I hope you find this helpful!

The only place I have had to show proof of vaccination is at the kennels, but I would carry them anyway just incase of an "incident".

Not sure what you're were trying to say there, but the 1600 loop as well as the 1700 loop are both full S/W/E hookups. The only partials w/o sewer are the 1500 and some other loop(s) that I can't remember.

We are a dedicated 1600 WDW FW "Looper" :yay: Our favorite loop ... especially the area backing to the 1500 loop.:thumbsup2 :cool1: :cool1: :thumbsup2

The original poster was inquiring about sites that backed-up to open water, i.e. lake, canal, etc. That's what I meant by a "water" site. Guess I should have said water-front site! Site 1632 is a good one! Right next to the comfort station on the 1500 loop!

My favorite preferred loop is 1400 and my favorite full hookup loop is 1000. We like to be close to the pool, the campfire site and the trading post, and these loops are. I find that the buses run frequently enough that I can get to the settlement or the outpost quickly from here, and we also bring bikes to ride to get around. We've never rented a golf cart, FWIW. Neither of these is a pet loop; we haven't taken our pups yet, so I haven't stayed at or checked out the pet loops. Which loop is obviously a personal choice based upon what you plan to do and what you like to be close to.
