We have a Nikon D60, and am wondering which lens I should rent for upcoming trip in May, Nikkor F1.8, 35mm or Nikkor f1.4, 50mm? I'm leaning more towards the 35mm, but want some more opinions, TIA!
I personally wouldn't rent either... I think renting is really only a good idea when you're looking at something over $1000.
As it is, with shipping and a 7 day rental those lenses would cost you about $50. To buy a 50mm f/1.8 it's about $100. I'd rather buy something than spend $50 on a rental. But that's IMO of course.
What are you looking to use it for? I love my Sigma 30mm f/1.4. What other lenses do you have? I'd lean towards the 35mm if you're set on renting. The 50mm isn't wide enough for me on my crop camera (like your D60) but everyone is different, it depends on your shooting style. I tend to go wider in normal shooting, and the 30mm was great for indoor rides at Disney.
