There are a few posts now and then asking which lens or lenses should I take on vacation with me? My answer, take them all! We just got from a week's vacation in Maine. Due to baggage fees etc. I decided to pack light. I took my super wide, my 18--200 for my general lens and my 70--300 for long distance from boats rides. Well, the 18--200 froze up and broke on me the 2nd day into the trip leaving my with the other 2 extremes. I still managed to get some great shots and computer cropping has helped. I did have my "pocket camera" with me also. So, my answer to the question is to take a bit more than you need because you never know. Thankfully, the 18--200 is under warranty and was promptly sent back to Canon.
