How do you like the touchpad? I am thinking of getting a new laptop and a touchpad but I haven't heard much chatter about the HP laptop.

If there are any computer gurus out there can you tell me which laptop is a better deal?

A. +$30
•AMD Dual-Core E-450 Accelerated processor
1.65GHz, 1MB L2 Cache
•4GB DDR3 SDRAM system memory (expandable to 8GB)
•320GB SATA hard drive

B.
•Intel Celeron T3500 processor
2.10GHz, 1MB L2 Cache
•3GB DDR3 SDRAM system memory (expandable to 8GB)
•320GB SATA hard drive

Either laptop I can get the touchpad deal. I use the laptop for an online class, the internet and sharing photos. I was leaning towards "B" because the processor is faster howver I don't know if that is really going to be all that faster and "A" does have more memory.

any advice?

not a techie...
hopefully someone else will help....but

i love my touchpad. for internet browsing, emailing, kindle app, all while sitting on couch or laying in bed or taking on the go....but if i want to do lots of typing and clicking on things, i prefer my laptop.

I have both an HOP touchpad and laptop and when it comes to school work and writing paper the laptop wins handsdown! I do use my touchpad for listening to music and simple applications (mail, internet, etc), but prefer my laptop for anything eles. Although if I can use a stylis with my touchpad then I might consider tryinhg that out for taking notes.

There is a Toshiba Laptop with same specs as (A) but with AMD E-300 CPU for $269.99 Free Shipping at Best Buy. Item #3438577 I just got one myself, good luck!

According to my brother the IT guy, 1.65 is too slow (for him, anyway). A faster processor is better.
The dual core is better, it's like having two hard drives working for you at the same time.
Don't worry about the memory, especially since both are expandable to 8G. The one with less memory would just cost you a little more down the road for the extra gigabyte of memory, but it looks like that computer is $30 cheaper?

I'd go with the one with the faster processor, but first I'd gGoogle customer reviews of the two.

Thank you all so much for your input. I am focusing on these two lap tops because then I can get the touch pad for $149.
It is so hard shopping for computers because it is like a different language that definitely do no know very well!

Well, to start with, you're looking at two different chip architectures from two different manufacturers, so the GHz speeds don't compare apples to apples. Though it doesn't specifically say it, the Celeron T3500 has two cores, so they're both dual-core processors.

To clarify a PP, having a dual core isn't like having two hard drives, but it is like having two (older style single-threaded) processors. Meaning that there can be more simultaneous or background tasks going on without noticing significant slowdown.

At the end of the day, either one is probably going to give you fairly similar performance. I'd probably base my decision more on how I like the feeling of the keyboard and mouse-like input of each device, and/or how the screen display looks.

I honestly love my Touchpad. It doesn't have as many games and apps as an iPad, but honestly I have an iPhone and I'm not the kind of person that needs a ton of them anyway. It does what I want which is checking email, reading Kindle books, and surfing the web. I can also use it to make spreadsheets and Word documents if I need to, though I'm bad at typing on any touchscreen. The video is really great! I spent $100 on the 16gb and I wish I'd gotten the 32gb for $150 instead, that's about my only complaint.

I did overclock it to 1.5ghz though, which is simple, but voids your warranty. That helped speed it up a ton.
