I was hoping that all the KSC experts could help advise me on which of the special tours to take. We have done the regular tour and spent hours at KSP Visitor center serveral days while waiting for the Endeavour launch last year.

I was thinking of driving down for Endeavour's fly away in September, but would also like to do a couple of the special tours on the days before. The launch pad tour, the VAB tour or the command center? Which two would you do? (It will be one adult and DD9)

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

We did the VAB tour in July and it was fascinating. I'm interested to see what the command center tour is like. I think that I'd pass on the launch pad tour though, you'll see some of that when you do the other tour.

I have done all the tours at KSC. If you are interested in the space program I would recommend the Launch Control tour. You will be able to see the room where they launched the shuttles.

I liked the launch pad tour also since we were inside the fence.

I am probably the wrong one to ask because I enjoyed them all!!! If you have any questions ask away.

I loved the VAB tour and would highly recommend it.

Not sure when they take Endeavour out to get her ready for the move but if she's still in the VAB then I'd do that tour, no question.

Never thought I'd be that close to an orbiter. :)

I was not aware that they had a Command Center tour. I have done the VAB tour and I recommend it. It ends at the Saturn V center so it extends the tour in a way.

The VAB tour is awesome! I went with Jeff and we had an amazing time. It was stepping into history.

...and you get some great views of the 39A and 39B Launchpads.

No matter which one you choose, these appear to be limited time events. See them if you can!

Most of your pictures won't have some random tourist in the middle of them. :3dglasses

Jeff, I think you are "tag" challenged this month.

Thanks everyone. I thought I had settled on the VAB tour and the Launch Pad tour the next day, but then I read Kathy's blog and I wanted to do that one too. We were going to come down from NC to do the special tour for placing Endeavour on the transport plane.

Kathy - How close to the launch pad do you get on the tour? Can you get some great photos?

You don't get as close as I would like. There is a service road inside the fence where they take you around the launch pad. You do get out of the bus shortly after you enter the fence area where you can get some great photos. You are lower than the launch pad so you would be looking up.
