I won't go budget on toiletpaper....there IS a difference. :scared1:

Recently I bought Target brand (Up & Up) of cotton swabs....twice as many for a dollar less? Sounds good, but not such a good deal. They have far less cotton on the tips, and it doesn't feel as soft as the Q-Tip brand. I will use what I have bought, but will go back to buying (and spending the extra $ on)Q-Tip brand swabs.
(I have bought Target brand stuff in the past & have never had an issue with quality/value, etc. This was the 1st time I was not pleased with the purchase. Lesson learned!)

What are some things that you insist on buying the "name brand" of?

TP...definitely TP. I buy brand names for the most part anyway...but my paper has to be charmin altho CVS brand is a very close copy.

I am with you on the toilet paper and cotton swabs. Mac and cheese has to either be Kraft or make my own, paper towels and soap (the last one is because I have sensitive skin). Pretty much everything else I go for store brands.

Peanut Butter. I am a Peter Pan girl and nothing else will do. Everything else is negotiable!

This isn't food related but I'll buy everything cheap but my haircut! Then it's top dollar!

Oh, and canned green beans has to be Green Giant!

Food
Toilet paper
Tooth paste
Laundry supplies
Mouth wash
Soap
Lotion
Hair care products
Make up

Q tips are a good one.

I also just buy Always brand pads...that's something I don't want to risk....

I'll give anything a shot usually. The only thing I haven't tried is the generic of my thyroid meds, dr.'s recommend against it for that paticular drug (synthroid)

dove soap for DH
Hefty trash bags
Diapers, it can be pampers or huggies but no store brands have worked for us.

Soda (Pepsi or Dr. Pepper, not Top Choice Cola or "Dr. Thunder"
Cereal
Sneakers (New Balance for me, not some $12 generics from Wal Mart)

For me it is a lot of things., My DH and I both feel that paying more and having less is often the real bargain.

We do not buy our clothes at "bargain" places because they do not last as long. Yes a pair of jeans for him Target brand is cheaper then LL Bean for the initial purchase but they will be replaced in a matter of months where the LL Bean pair is a matter of years. In the end the LL Bean pair is cheaper so that is the real bargain. Same goes for shoes, My sketchers, LL Bean shoes and real Crocs last me years where the Payless shoes last me a couple of months. We will however check out thrift stores (my DH likes to do this) We can get gently used things for way cheaper and we can still pick brands that last.

Food it isn't worth eating things with more fillers, that really don't taste as good because they are cheaper. We would rather have healthier (though we do not waste money on "health" food that is not really healthy) things and have less of them. I make many things from scratch so the canned, boxed things we use are things I like, mostly brand names. You will never convince me that things like store brand soup taste the same as Campbell's.

Toilet Paper and actually Paper Towels. I but Viva when on sale and they last so much longer then the cheapies because you need less to do the job.

Anything Walmart we will not buy. We have strong opinions against this store as they are detrimental to local economies. Plus a whole slew of other reasons.

Always buy Always is my motto! Or one of them.

I only buy Charmin Extra Strong.

I only buy Puffs Extra Strong.

But budget does not only mean inexpensive. Spending a few dollars here and there on something that ends up costing more than if you would have bought something of better quality doesn't make sense either.

COFFEE!

I can't drink the stuff out of a can, yuck!

I buy quality beans and grind and make my own latte every am.

Dawn

Exactly! the bargin isn't so much of a bargin if I have to repurchase the item in a few months anyway! ( clothes, shoes, etc.)

And as for household items, Charmin is DEFINITELY worth the cost.

Just my kind of thinking!!!:grouphug:

Pop aka Soda. We do not like the taste of Big K or the walmart brand.
Shampoo only Head & Shoulders fine/oily works with my oily hair.
The Meijer papertowels work good and no one ply toilet paper here only two ply.
Ketup only Heinz
DH will only wear Nike tennis shoes.

TP
Paper Towels
Hot Dogs, they are bad enough and I can't imagine buying a whole package of them for 99 cents
