Which Italian - Tonys, Alfredos or Mama Melrose?

Oh I'm glad someone else mentioned Portobello Yacht Club too! I wanted to mention in my post, but since OP asked about 3 specific restaurants, I didn't do so. Absolutely the best Italian food in the World hands down is at Portobello. Their food is very close to my dad's (he's won awards for best pizza - top secret sauce recipe!) and so we ate there 2x on our last trip. Yummy!!

Happy eating, Tiger

Mama Melrose is one of our favorite WDW restaurants. The Penne Alla Vodka is delicious. Also, love the 4 cheese flat bread and Chicken Parm.

Alfredos is very good also, but I'd give MM an edge.

Tonys...well lets just say I went once and wont go back. ;)

We tried Tony's for dinner last March and really enjoyed it! Our server was very attentive and our meal was great! My ds has asked to go back this year (we are going for lunch)! I also have an ADR for Mama Melrose, but am wondering if we should switch to Alfredos?? :confused3

We have been to MM's five times, and every time the food has been great and the service excellent. We never miss it. If we go with a group of family, we usually make it our date night alone together. :lovestruc It is a good restaurant for a family as well.

We have eaten at all three, and I think the food is definitely best at Alfredo's. Enjoy!

I think that Prime Time Cafe is a better resturant in MGM. I was not impressed withhte food at Mama Melrose. The sangria was nice though.

I love MM. No trip is complete without it. IMHO the other two were just okay. Of course, taste is in the 'mouth' of the beholder! :rotfl2:

Alfredo's is the most authentic, IMO. I agree the Fettucine Alfredo is superb -- the real deal! The calamari are also delicious as is the tiramisu.

I agree

we also enjoy the lasagna there
love the tiramisu

Italy has white and red sauces one is from the northern region and the other from the southern

Alfredo's gets the vote here :sunny:

definetly alfredos in epcot. its the most authentic & the other 2 dont compare. our favorite is the homemade fetticine alfredo, yum. palios at the swan is also good.

Just a thought after reading all posts - I'm not sure we all have the same definition of 'authentic.' Like I said, I grew up in an Italian restaurant family and so for us, the food needs to be 'authentic' and not the atmosphere. Atmosphere does lend itself to the dining experience, but it cannot improve the taste of the food. The only way for Alfredo's to be classified as truly 'authentic' in our book, is to have more vast variety of sauces for example - as I said, our region of Italy is all about red sauces, so I felt left out with their dining menu as they favoured cream sauces - no one in my large family eats cream sauces, period. They really need to improve on their dishes in terms of quality and selection, IMHO, but since I've lived and breathed it for 35 years I am probably too harsh a critic anyway!!

After several days of restaurant eating what we really crave is simple Neapolitan style pasta with tomato sauce - the sort you'd find in a little back street cafe in Sorrento or Positano. Any ideas where we might find such a thing at WDW. I notice Alfredo's has a possibility on the lunch menu, as does (strangely enough) Cinderella's castle. Any other ideas, and could we get such a thing for dinner rather than lunch? Even if it wasn't on the menu - are any of the italian's open to special requests?
