I'm an off-siter, at the moment, and I wanted to know from everyone which is your favorite resort and why? We will be staying on Disney for the first time in 2006 and reading some opinions will help me make a decision as to where we should stay for the very first time.

We don't know if we want value, moderate, deluxe or a home away from home yet. It all depends. I hear every now and then that each resort has it's own little flare about it and when you enter one it's like your're in another world.

Once we go Disney we are not going back!

GF is my all time favorite. We try to stay there as often as possible...usually splitting our stays and ending up there since then I have it to look forward to.

I love the ambience of the resort, the Victorian theming, the design which provides a lot of little nooks around the resort to cuddle up or relax. There are so many extras at GF, like its location across from the castle, the water activites, the children's activities, the character buffet, the great/ elegant restaurants, the arcade, the waterfall pool that has a zero entry which looks like it extends out into the lagoon if you are standing in it (which is beautiful at sunset), the jacuzzi surrounded by rose bushes, the Alice in Wonderland bathroom supplies, the super comfortable beds and plush rooms, and the monorail access. I still probably haven't done it justice. It's a great place. princess:

we like the POR as it has nice landscaping, trees, flowers, winding river and an all around relaxing atmosphere. sometimes i wonder how this resort was made a moderate one and not a delux.

I have stayed at the POR, BC, ASMO, AKL, WL, and pop and by far WL is my favorite.

The Dolphin! You get a deluxe resort at a great location by Epcot/MGM/Boardwalk at a moderate price. The Swan is a close second. Both hotels have the heavenly beds and great service. Dolphin's lobby is quite impressive and Disney is all around. We could see Tower of Terror and Boardwalk from one room, and the Epcot ball from another.

I've stayed at the the Swan, Poly, CONT, BW, CBR, PO-Riverside, Dixie Landings (now part of PO), PO-French Quarter, CS & a few off-sites. I just bought into DVC @ OKW and will be there in Dec 04 & Jan 05. All the above are very nice resorts. As you said each has its own "flavor" and depending on your personal taste you may prefer one over another. Each is magical in its own way.

We found the CBR to be one of the nicest resorts and at a great cost. As tigger53 said, it is amazing how it is a moderate and not a deluxe resort. My guess is that it is due to the "normal" room sizes... If money is not an issue, I would also suggest the Poly as it is also very nice, top notch resort. If you want detailed descriptions of each listed above, PM me.

Just to warn you though, as you said, once you make the switch to a WDW Resort you will never go offsite again. It is an entirely different experience being a part of it all the entire time you are there. After 16 trips (13 onsite), I finally broke down and realized I was addicted to WDW and the DVC was the only cure.

CSR is our favorite resort. Check out the website we created below to help spread the word.
