I have seen Wishes in WDW and the Main Street Electric Parade and SpectroMagic.

Which would you think is better?

FYI...you can watch the ELP in DCA (stay near the circle) and get out of the park ASAP, move to the center plaza b/w the two parks and watch the fireworks from there...best of both worlds!

My personnal fave is the Electrical Parade. Perhaps it's the music, perhaps it's because it's so timeless and was the first of its kind. Perhaps it's the memory of seeing my DS at 30 months with such delight in his eyes the first time he saw it. Spectromagic is fabulous and fairly similar to the ELP, and the fireworks shows are always fun, but nothing touches my soul quite like the Electrical Parade.
I haven't seen the new FW show, the pictures and reports indicate that it's particularly great especially when viewed from the hub with the castle in the background. Still, you can see fireworks in lots of places, but there's only one ELP.

I also vote for the ELP. I think you can do both. I also heard that the ELP would be moved to Hong Kong in the near future, so catch it while you can.

If you don't need perfect viewing then you can do both as the previous posters have indicated.

With that said, the new fireworks show :wizard: is fabulous!!!! It's the best I've ever seen Disney do in the states. It's a very long show, too; so, it's well worth it.

Even if th ELP takes a hiatus to Hong Kong, it will be back. As fireworks shows go they do change; so, take advantage of this one.

If you know you are coming back over the next 17 months or so then it may not matter.

Both are good; so, it depends what you like more. :cool1:

I'm hear right now and saw the Dreams fireworks for the first time last night and was in awe. I love Wishes and luckily I didn't have to choose between my sentimental fav of the ELP, but these fireworks are definitely a MUST SEE!

If you can, do both. we love the ELP bit the new fireworks are amazing. DL has outdone itself on this one and is really a do not miss.

The Electric Parade going to Hong Kong is WDWs original EP floats not DLs. There are 2 sets of EP floats. The orignal set started in 1972 at DL, and stayed there until 1996. Then the floats went to WDW, and came back to CA and went to DCA in 2001.

WDW had their own set of Electric parade floats. Those then went to Paris. They were then sent to WDW to be cleaned up are going to be (or probably have already been) sent to Hong Kong. So I wouldn't expect Electric parade to leave just because of Hong Kong.

Before Friday night I probably would have said Electric parade, then do fireworks. I saw the fireworks Friday night. I now say, Fireworks. especially if you've already seen the electric parade.

It is difficult to get a good spot close to the showing of the fireworks. I was with my sis and her fiance and they insisted on walking around the park and getting there 10 minutes to the fireworks starting. Then they complained that there were trees in the way and we didn't have a clear shot of the castle.

The best view is to see the matterhorn, castle and the fireworks, which are behind and to the left of the castle. It is extremely crowded. The parade starts at 7:45 going up mainstreet, and all the people follow the parade up and park in front of the castle. Then Fantasmic ends shortly before the fireworks, and all the people stream out of fantasmic to see the fireworks. It is a mad house of people, and they block off walkways so there are areas where you are not allowed to stand.

The fireworks are wonderful. So much going on, it's not just your typical ooh aah fireworks show, it's so much more. I would not miss this. Since I live in Ca, I know I'll be back to see the fireworks, but had I only had Friday night to see them, I would have wanted a much better view of the fireworks.

I have seen the EP and then made it to the Hub just as the FW started. But that's trickier now.

Word is that, even more than previous ones, this FW show must be seen from the front of the castle for full effect. According to www.miceage.com. the mobs have been so intense that some morons are actually calling 911 (what they expect is beyond me). There is also talk of reversing the direction of the EP to prevent people from trying to see both, so watch for that.

Cheers.

A week ago I would have voted for EP, but after I saw the new fireworks show last week, its hands down. FIREWORKS! It is probably the best show Ive seen yet. EP is one of the sweetpea's favorite things about Disney, but she told me after seeing the fireworks that its her fave. The sweetpea even stated that it would be worth it to come in the am and wait all day just to see the fireworks. And the best view is definately from in front of the castle. In the past we have been able to see EP and then hop over to view the fireworks, but it seems to be a bit harder these days. Especially with needing to be so far up to view everything. The fireworks are definately better and worth in IMO.
