Soda or juice?

I'm not trying to start a debate. I honestly want to know. At school I don't have a whole lot of options on what to drink in the dining hall. THe water is nasty, and I can't drink milk. Which leaves me with soda or juice. So which is worse? Sprite (pretty much the only soda I drink) or juice (usually apple juice, because I can't really drink orange juice either)?

Well, I would go with juice, but only if it is 100% juice. Some are juice blends with only 10% juice, which would make soda and juice bad. Can you bring your own bottle of water?

Neither are great, but at least juice should have some vitamins. I would bring bottled water, if you're concerned about what's best.

Nothing can be brought into the dining halls. They're anal about it here. I've been drinking more juice than anything else, but I've seen so many complaints on here about juice recently that I really wasn't sure.

Both juice and regular soda can be very high in sugar and thus calories...how about diet soda?

yes there are some diet sodas that aren't all that bad. Like diet pepsi, or diet sprite.

The only drawback with juice and sugared sodas are that they can pack on empty calories quickly. There is diet soda, but the thing I hate about sodas is the carbonated water always makes me feel bloated. Not that you would have that problem in college. I remember being able to drink Diet Coke by the caseload at that age. ;) Yes, if you could get a hold of bottled water or fresh water at the dispenser, that would be best (start good habits now). I can't believe they don't have that offering available at the college.

They do have fresh water available, but it's city water. I was raised in the sticks, and we had a well. Drinking the water here is like drinking the water from my pool at home. I drink mostly bottled water in my dorm room (buy it by the pallet)
I have to admit that the empty calories aren't the biggest issue to me. I don't eat a whole lot here anyway, and walk miles a day, so those just aren't an issue. I'm glad to hear though, that juice is somewhat healthier

Apple juice isn't going to give you a lot of nutritional value - do they have orange juice(more vitamin C, I think)?

What about tea or milk?
