Which is the worst offsite hotel you have ever stayed at?

I know this may sound like I am talking about it a lot later then it happened, but I was wondering which is the worst offsite hotel you have ever stayed at in Orlando? For my family and I it was the Ramada Suites By Sea World, which has now become a different hotel or something.

Anyway we stayed there way back in December 1997 because at the time we had booked our trip to WDW around October and there was little accomodations left that were still available. Our room was on the 3rd floor and the guy who took us there did not offer to help with our bags, considering there was no elevator. The room was ok but there was a rip in the bed sheets and the silver wear in the kitchen was not that clean so we never used it. The thing I remember that was the worst was their continental breakfast. They served it in bags that people in the army get and the sitting area was outside, which was not that good since the weather was very cold for our whole stay. So the rest of the time we had breakfast at a Denny's which was very close.

So which is the worst offsite location in Orlando you have stayed and I hope no one flames me for brining this up, even though it happened a long time ago. I just happen to remember which is why I am posting about it.

The worst ever was a Best Inn, on west 192. It was so bad that we didn't stay. We checked out after going to our roach infested, mold encrusted shower, mildew stinking room with damp bedclothes.

It's closed now. Wonder why...

mind was a comfort inn - that I think is still around.

the hotel was not bad - I stayed there because Spicey could - it was his first trip back in 1985.

the problem was the staff. the girl who checked us in was so high that the next morning she denited doing it.

very, very strange. Anyway it was so silly. I had a pet in a non-pet room and they were trying to say I didn't tell the front desk.

well I still had my confirmation from them and in it I stated that I was bring a pet.

this person was so high that she didn't even remember petting Spicey - which she definitely did.....

A couple come to mind. One was something out on 192 with a little lake. I can't recall the name, but the beds vibrated if you put 50cents in the "machine" LOL!

The other was the Comfort Inn LBV. I think it's improved, but my one stay there was not good (hotel room was dirty and the front desk staff was incredibly rude!)

Many years ago. A Days Inn Suite type of motel that was not too far from the park. It was in the middle of a hot July. It was really awful. We had always camped before and were sorry we didn't again! Grammy

I stayed at the Days Inn Maingate (East I think). It was the WORST. I'd stayed in a very nice Days Inn in Chicago, so I thought this would be fine. Luckily it was only for the last two nights of our trip and we were only at the motel to sleep.

Candlewood Suites off Sandlake Rd near the FL Mall. absolutely positively disgusting! Seemed like a place where construction workers stayed when they had a long term job or even people to stay there instead of renting an apartment long term. The staff seemed YOUNG, & I mean teenagers. The kid I saw delivering towels looked to be about 14. I saw a seedy looking couple as I was walking to my suite, they were walking with their large German Shepard dog. Once I got to my suite, I walked in the room & walked right back out & immediately checked out!

2nd worst was the Ramada on 192 W near Old Lake Wilson Rd. Nasty dirty old almost shag type carpet that was all matted down. Sticky tile floors in the bathroom & sink area. You could hear everytime someone in the other rooms around you flushed the toilet. I was put in the wing rooms but was told if I wanted to pay $50 per night more to upgrade I could stay in the tower & it was supposed to be nicer. I was put in that hotel by Fairfield doing one of their timeshare presentations where you paid $XX to cover hotel room & get free Universal tickets so I really couldnt even change hotels since I had to do the prepay thing.

2 worst
1st was Travelodge Maingate East, 1st visit 14 years ago in 1993 was OK, 2nd time in 2001 it was run down, not been back since hope it has had a refurb.
2nd was Comfort Inn LBV this last Xmas, now some people don't have a problem here but we did, it was dirty. Layer of dirt on top of safe was there all 11 nights never cleaned. Even had a cockroach sharing the room until I caught it. I think we hit busiest week of year and not enough cleaning staff, it was filthy.

By far the worst hotel my family and I have stayed at in the Disney area was the Days Inn Suites at Old Town on I-92.

Thank God we only stayed for two days.

I would not recommend it at all.

Hi CR REsort Fan 4 Life,

I was attracted by your post's title with a very specific hotel in mind ...only to find that (I think) you are refering to the very same one that I was going to post about ....The Ramada Inn, at 5858 I-drive ...now a Days Inn, I believe.

....and also to find that several others have mentioned it by its more recent title of ownership.

It was our first trip to America, and my family and I had the most miserable time there...

The carpet was so dirty, after my kids had run about bear foot for a few minutes the soles of their feet were actually BLACK !!!

There was mould on the ceiling, peeling paint, cracked wash basins, dirty bedspreads. The safe was broken and the bathroom stank.

The pool was so cold, and so small, we only ever saw ducks (I kid you not) using it !

The so called 'restaurant' was a joke with the most limit and expensive breakfast selection you ever saw.

Just to add to our misery we were woken every day by the skips from the restaurant next door being emptied at 05.30am !

The shuttle bus we were told was free, was not, and charged us $10 a time INCLUDING our 10 month old baby (!) to cram onto a shuttle, that picked up from just about every hotel in the vicinity, and left the parks at 7pm sharp (so no firework parades for us).

Added to this the hotel staff just did not seem to care, and you could tell by their response customer complaints were a regular occurance.

I am disappointed to find, that even after its new ownership, a few years ago, judging by recent reviews, this place has got no better.

The place should be condemed - its a disgrace to Orlando.

The Hotel I was referring to was not actually on International Drive. To get there we drove past the convention centre on International Drive and the Hotel was located on a street called Villa De Costa.

Days Inn Lakeside which was on Sand Lake Rd until a couple of years ago when it was demolished.
The places wasn't fit for people. Rooms were dirty with filthy carpets, leaking plumbing, backed up toilets, damp, cockroaches, TV's that didn't work, broken aircon, dirty beds, loose electrical sockets, filthy reception and restaurant, police in the carpark every night, dirty pools, and to finish it off the top floor of the 3 storied buildings was closed as the walkway was falling off the building and had been doing so for a long time by the look of the place.
I am amazed that the city of Orlando seems to not really care about the standard of hotels and doesn't have inspectors to check hotels. If they did this one would have been closed down as it was unsafe.

Radisson Worldgate was horrible! 3 different rooms dh & his bf stayed in last year because of mold/ a/c problems and the last room had a broken window, broken dressers and the a/c wasn't flush to the wall- they had engineering come up- they stuffed the gap with cardboard! We couldn't change the room on the last nite when I met up w/ dh (BF was returning home & dh & I went to POR for the weekend, thank goodness) because of a tatoo convention! A letter to corporate did nothing neither did the manager when we told him upon checkout.

Met up with SIL and her family at the Comfort Inn LBV this past week (we're in tampa so I picked up MIL on friday so they could do WDW for the weekend)and it was so tiny! Cute on the web- the Jr suite was a reg sized room w/ one full bed and mini bunk beds surrounded by a faux wall painted like a faux jungle. It was dirty and SIL absolutely hated it.

Dirty, key card didn't work and the repairman told me he couldn't fix it, so just "put a chair under the doorknob" , apathetic or downright rude employees, scary other guests, just pretty horrible in general. Howard Johnsons Maingate East (where we moved to after that 1 night) seemed like a palace in comparison!

Yeah, first time we went to Orlando we stayed at the Days Inn Maingate East. The staff sucks and the rooms are pretty bad. We tried the Howard Johnson Maingate East now and its so much better! Almost the same price, but so much better taken care of. Also, you have an IHOP right on site which is so convinient.

My first trip to WDW I went with my friend and our kids, 3 of them. We had want a place with a pool, so our travel agent had booked a place with a pool but it backed up on to a water way. At check in we were told NOT to use the pool after 3pm as they found alligators in their pool almost ever morning despite a 6ft fence. I think this one tops the worst list

Needless to say, we were out of there, calling the travel agent to make different arrangements, We wound up at a Howard Johnson's on 192 next door to, a small closed water park.

Days Inn- Maingate by Old Town, I agree it is the worst dump I have ever stayed at. We needed a place to stay one night after doing Disney then Daytona Beach. I assumed a Days Inn would be nice. It was as nasty as everyone else has stated. I emailed the company because I expected better from Days Inn. I got a letter of apology and that is it. It was just disgusting. The only way to improve this place is a match and a dozer.

Enclave, Enclave, Enclave ...The rooms smelt musty, doors were hanging off kitchen cupboards, changed rooms 3 times but each one had there own problem. Still had good holiday though
