Which is the better deal?

5 night stay from Sept 1st - Sept 6 - 2 adults 2 kids (girls) ages 11 and 15 (not big eaters, more like grazers/snackers)

Option 1: Stay at OKW by renting points ($767), 5 day hopper discounted tix thru GM ($355.20 x 4 people = $1420.80) for a total of $2187.80.

Option 2: Stay at CSR with free dining package for a total of $2790.16.

The difference btwn the two options is $602.36. Yes, we would probably pay more than $600 for food if we don't get free dining but we could be economical and use wegogrocer, etc to get supplies to eat breakfast and maybe lunches (we like to come back in the afternoon to use the pool and recharge b4 having dinner in the parks) in the room and only eat counter service meals. We don't like to be a slave to a reservation!

Just curious what others would do in our shoes!

Based on just your saying you dont like to be a tied down to reservations, go with OKW.

For the $600.00 difference I would say go with Option #1. That savings gives you about $100.00 a day for food. If you get food delivered to your room for breakfasts and some lunches and then eat counter service in the parks(if your girls aren't big eaters then they could split a lot of the counter service meals)you could probably just about make the five days on that savings. You can still make an ADR or two if you want to have a sit down dinner, though that would probably push you over the $600.00. We have done the Dining Plan before and I find that paying out of pocket works better for us. We don't need a table service meal every night. We usually eat breakfast in the room(Pop-Tarts, Granola bars, etc.), then a snack at the parks and a counter service meal in the afternoon. We might do 2-3 table service meals a trip(7 nights). We usually spend less than the Dining Plan costs. We take a room only discount over free dining. Either way you'll have a great trip. Cheers!!!!!
