Which is the best..

According to TWiz app on my droid:
Walk 30 minutes
Boat 35 minutes
Bus 13 minutes
Monorail to TTC then bus to DHS 46 minutes
Hope that helps!

I would go out the international gateway and take the boat. you'll stop at the epcot resort along the way but you'll be sitting down and enjoying the ride.:goodvibes

I always take the boat. Walking is about 20-30 minutes, depending on how fast you are walking. The walk is along the canal heading out of the Studios, through the Boardwalk resort, around Crescent Lake and on to International Gateway.

Do you think taking the boat would leave me enough time to get from a 4:35 ADR at EPCOT to the 8:30 Fantasmic show at DHS?

Plenty of time. If you sat late, 5 PM, finished at 6:30, you have two hours. Boat or walking is about same time, I think boat might beat walking (it does for me, LOL), maybe 30 minutes, tops.

Depending on how tired and hot you are, the walk can be faster than the boat. The boat stops so many times in between it's maddening. We only take the boat when we're really too tired to walk anymore, lol. Even if we do take the boat, we get off before the actual Epcot stop, and walk the rest of the way. I can't recall the order of the stops, but pretty much any of the stops will do, and leave you a short walk to the Gateway.

Thanks, Dan....and of course, your post made me realize that I was talking about what we do going in reverse from what the OP asked! :lmao:

If you are in the front of Epcot, taking the bus is going to be the fastest way. Otherwise, you have to walk through Epcot, and out the backdoor, which will take you about 20 mins, or possibly more.
If you exit Epcot, via the International Gateway, you can decide whether to take the boat, or walk, depending on the boat 'situation'. Now...if the boat is there, loading, then get onboard. It should be just about 25 mins to DHS once the boat leaves the dock. It will go to BW, then to YC/BC, then to S/D and finally to DHS.
BUT...if the boat isn't in sight, or is just leaving, it will be faster to just walk. It's usually about 20 mins between boats...so you have to add on wait time to the boat ride time...could take almost an hour from Epcot to DHS.
The walk, from the Intl Gateway, to DHS is about 20 mins. My friend and I got to the boat just as they were closing the doors. They yelled that another boat would be there in 20 mins. We yelled back that we would beat them to DHS...Highly doubtful was their response. Well, the last we saw of that boat was when we turned to cross the Village Green at BW and the boat was headed to YC/BC. The boat had beat us to BW by about 45 seconds. The next time we saw the boat was as we approached the entrance to DHS, and the boat was just coming around the bend....we beat them by about 5/6 mins...we were through bag check when the boat go to the dock.

One year, we were finishing up our day/evening at Epcot and watching IllumiNations...it was the terrific holiday ending. But, I also really wanted to get to DHS before they closed so I could see the Osborne Lights. So, we finished watching IllumiNations and then very quickly walked to DHS...more of a race walk really. But, I made it to DHS in just about 15 mins from Epcot. I was severely out of breath, but I got in.

Where is the International Gateway? My ADR's are at Via Napoli in Italy :)

Believe it or not, I am not a first time Disney goer, I've been about 10 times and never used the International Gateway (may have once but vaguely remember) :confused3 But we usually dont hop (besides AK day)! I am going with a first timer so I want him to see everything and this is my first time planning the trip alone! So this input is really great! Thank you all so much :flower3:

The Gateway is something that the vast majority of guests don't notice unless they need it!! Don't feel badly.
You can find the Gateway just before you turn left to go over the bridge to France, after walking up the hill from England. You don't notice it because their is a rise right there. So, if you are leaving Via Napoli, you will take a left, and walk with the lake on your right...go up the hill, across the bridge when you get to France. Take an immediate left and to down towards the turnstiles.
If you are entering via the Gateway, from the Epcot resorts, or the boat....go up the hill, turn right and across the bridge, with France on your right and keep walking to Italy.
