I am taking my 9 yr old and her friend to DL to celebrate thier birthdays. We would like to meet friends at Dowtonw Disney area for dinner. Which resturant do you recomend, we will have 4 kids with us, ages 8-10?
I agree! Rainforest Cafe is best for kids. The other restaurants at DTD aren't very kid oriented, IMO. Since the Grand Californian is right there, Storyteller's Cafe is good, from what I hear. I haven't actually tried it yet, though. If you would consider doing breakfast, they have a character breakfast st Storyteller's Cafe with Chip & Dale.
I agree that Rainforest Cafe is great - other option would be ESPN Zone, especially since the kids are little older (8 - 10). I love the food there and my son LOVES the games!! We usually leisurely finish our dinner while he plays.
My 9 year old daughter loved planet hollywood. I really enjoyed it also. There is a lot of fun stuff to look at and the place is really big. The food was surprisingly good. I read some negative things about it, but was pleasantly surprised.
Personally I don't like Rainforest--way too much garlic in the meal I had (I had lunch w/my mom and her's was a different dish but had too much as well). I like garlic, but I thought it was overwhelming everything else in the dish.
Rainforest Cafe, w/o a doubt. I have a 9 y.o. ds; the place scared him when he was about 3, but ever since he's loved it (we've been to them in various locations)! Prices are moderate...I'm thinking $7-12 per person for most things. The pizza is not very good IMHO. Seems I also recall that the drinks do not come with free refills (this from about 6 mos ago); double check on that before guzzling down the cup. Also--and this is one of my little pet peeves about RF--the waitstaff will cheerfully say when you order a sandwich, "Did you want fries or chips with that?" or something to that effect. Well, unless you've carefully read the menu, you probably won't realize that they are not offering you an included choice; either one of those is an extra charge Fair to offer them, but I wish they'd make it clearer by asking if I'd like to **add** fries or chips to my order. All that aside, it is a fun place for any kid!
I have to agree that Rainforest Cafe is always a hit with kids, especially if you don't have anything like it near where you live -- it's a real treat for them. Kids meal prices are moderate and you might even want to order the appetizers as the main dish. It's an experience kids seem to remember!
One note about Rainforest: the portions are huge! Especially the salads. My husband and I split an appetizer around the table of 3 adults and 2 kids, then he and I shared the China Island Chicken Salad. We were stuffed. The kids meals are also pretty big. My kids ages 8 and 10 are usually so busy looking around they don't eat much and share a meal no problem.
