Which is the best moderate?

We will be changing our Poly reservation for a moderate resort so that we have more money to spend in the parks. We have only stayed at CBR in the past. They have little courtyards in the middle of the building groups. Do any of the other resorts do this?

We have stayed at the Coronado Springs and Port Orleans FQ (twice) and we liked them both! I think it depends on what theme you want. While we did enjoy our stay at the Coronado Springs, the resort is large and it was a good walk to the main pool. Our bldg was right next to the main bldg, and we were the first pick up & drop off at the hotel. We've stayed at the FQ twice, the second time we were traveling with my inlaws and a 15 month old. We really enjoyed our stays there, especially because the resort is smaller and easier to walk around. The kids really enjoyed both pools, especially the slides! Each of the hotels did have a little courtyard & walkways around the buildings.

CBR is my favorite moderate. :D They recently renovated all the rooms and they seem just like new. ;)

I've stayed at POFQ, POR, and CBR, and prefer them in that order.

POFQ is very intimate, and I love the New Orleans theming. You absolutely cannot get a bad location. My son loves the pool.

POR is a close second, but is too large. If you've ever gotten stuck out in building 35, you know what I'm talking about. :)

CBR is nice, but the theming didn't appeal to me. I did love the location, especially being able to hear the Tapestry of Dreams music from the pool.

One of these days I may try CS, but the theming doesn't appeal to me in the least. I'll probably stay there once on my quest to stay at all WDW resorts. :)

My wife and I love Port Orleans Riverside. There's Alligator Bayou if you have kids or the “Manors” if you don’t. The Manors are nice and quiet… we don’t have kids so we like to stay there. Most of the buildings from both parts are right on or near a river. Plenty of pools for the kids and adults scattered all around the property. Now the Manors are built like… well, like old manors you might find in the south on a plantation. Each one has some kind of courtyard or pool set up (one building even has a very nice gazebo). There is a centralized food court with more than enough to choose from at pretty much any time of the day or night. There’s a separate restaurant and separate lounge/bar. Depending on the night it’s just for adults or sometimes they bring in entertainment for the entire family. Very nice and safe to walk around at night and of course everyone there has always been very nice and accommodating.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I’ll see if I can answer them.

Good luck…

Although I haven't stayed at Coronado, I would have to say my fav is Port Orleans FQ. It is intimate and has a great pool. If you like visiting Downtown Disney, they have a boat ride that takes you right over there. That's nice if you want to run out for a meal or do a little shopping.

it really should just depend on what theming you think you would enjoy most. I think thats the only major difference in the moderates. I prefer Carribean beach and french Quarter because I like the theming they have the best. If your still looking for that tropical atmosphere from the poly, maybe you should go to the Carribean Beach, but if your looking for a small, quiet, and peaceful resort with beautiful grounds, you should try French Quarter.

The reason for my courtyard question is we will be traveling with my DDs 5 & 6. We are looking for courtyards that are close to the rooms so that we could have a place to sit at night while they sleep. Something within site of our room would be nice so that our girls can easily find us if they wake up.

Then Port Orleans "Manor" is the place. Last building we stayed in this past June was Oak Manor. There was a courtyard with oak trees, a fountain and benches overlooking the river right outside our room. Very nice! You get a first floor room on the courtyard and the children will be no further than 20 - 30 feet away (give or take).

Now that's what I have been looking for. Thanx!!!!!!! Of course living in the south we pratically live in this kind of "Theme". But It would be worth it to me to be able to shave a few hundred dollars off our reservations so that we could spend it in the park and resturants.

All of the mansions have some sort of courtyard, Magnolia Terrace has a gazebo near it(water view side)! We liked the inner courtyard, standard rate view at Magnolia Terrace. Check out a map of the place and you can see the shapes of each building and what to request! :D
Have you considered WL? You get a balcony and can usually get a fairly decent rate! We had Woodsview in Dec for $119(plus tax).

Actually we orignally had a two bedroom villa at the VWL. Then two people in our family got laid off so we ended up a smaller group. I do like the WL but I would like to get as cheap as possible. WL is not out of the question but we have already stayed there and would like something different. We have never stayed at the PO (not the post office). IF I am to ask for a particular room at the OAk Manor (WE Smoke.......bad parents) what would get me a view of the tables and chairs? The pool view?

CBR is our favorite moderate resort. It's great having a main pool plus a pool for each island. The theming is great and Old Port Royale is fun to stroll thru. It's also nice because they offer several activites such as bikes and motorized boats. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the bus route in this resort. There are several stops. We are thinking of staying at the CBR next spring, if we do, we will be renting a car.

We've stayed at all the moderates, and they are all very nice, but POR is our favorite by far. We've stayed there in the Alligator Bayou a number of times. Love the landscaping and feel of the place, the pool and quiet pools are nice. We like the food court for a quick breakfast or snack. The only reason we don't stay there any more is we joined DVC. Of course, you can put me in any Disney resort and I'm happy! Could just live there!
