We won't be going into the Parks but are planning on doing a character breakfast/brunch for our last morning in Anaheim... which restaurant would you recommend? PLEASE rate them according to food and ability to interact with characters.

THANKS!!

A lot of folks on this board have very different opinions on what they like and why they like it, so we can all only give opinions based on the experiences we have had. Truthfully, it seems like most people seem to love Lilo & Stitch and Storytellers. You rarely hear anything bad about those two character meals. People like them for their food and the character interaction. I, on the other hand, am a diehard fan of Goofy's Kitchen, unequivocally. I have eaten there over many, many years and I think the food selection is better than Storytellers and I love the quality of the food. Sometimes there are lots of characters coming at you rapidly and you can barely eat, and other times there may be just three or four who come back to your table over and over again, giving you more quality time. So, for me, on a scale of 1 - 10, Goofy's is a solid 9 for its food variety and quality, and it is an 8 for character interaction (but the variety of characters differs beyond the 4 or 5 regulars).

Storytellers is a nice atmosphere. I was not familiar with some of the characters, but I will talk to them anyway! Their buffet was good, but there were not as many choices as there are at Goofy's. The off-the-menu options at Storytellers are not much cheaper than the buffet, but at least you can order from the menu. Goofy's is all you can eat buffet, pretty much all day, with a break in between brunch and dinner to prepare the dinner food.

HELLOOOOOOOO!!!! Die Hard Goofy's Kitchen Fan here!!!!!
I absolutely love that place!!!! My son is 18 and autistic. He loves Disney characters so much. We have had some truly magical experiences at GK! We have been to Storytellers too, but GK always has more variety of characters and they really go out of their way to interact with you. They actually spend quality time at your table. I have many stories now of Brody and the characters he loves having such a good time together!
And my cousin Jenny says "Don't forget about the creme brulee french toast as GK!" It is really good!!!!:thumbsup2

At Storytellers, the characters are Chip and Dale, Kenai and Coda from Brother Bear, Baloo from Jungle Book and Brer Bear from Song of the South.
I don't know what is at Lilo and Stitch.
At GK is Goofy, Pluto, Minnie, Cindrella, Chip and Dale, Jasmin, Aladdin, Fairy Godmother, and Donald Duck. And don't forget about doing the Macarena and the banging of the pots and pans to the Tarzan song and they take pics of your group with Pluto.

Good! I am glad I am not alone in my diehard Goofy's appreciation!!!:cool1: ...Not only is the creme brulee French toast a great choice, BUT the Mickey-shaped peach and apple cobbler...and my friend LOVES the biscuits and gravy, as well as the croissants. They have pepperoni pizza, chicken, lox, waffles, YUMMY mini-muffins, regular breakfast food stuff like delicious bacon and eggs, tasty potatoes, out-of-this-world FRUIT (yum yum yum)...on and on. It is just good eatin' to be had!:yay:

And Baloo is usually at Goofy's too, wiggling his ample mid-section to the Macarena! Lately at Goofy's there has also been Alice and sometimes the Mad Hatter, as well as Belle.

Storytellers sometimes has Rafiki from Lion King and Meeko from Pocahontas. All the woodsy and jungly Disney characters!

Lilo & Stitch at the PPH. We did Goofy's and will not do it again. Horrible character interaction, good food but we weren't there for food. We've never done Storyteller's.

You should try GK again. I'm so sorry you had a bad experience.

I'm also one that had a horrible experience at Goofy's and won't be going back. Our family prefers Storyteller's for the more relaxed atmosphere and ability to order off the menu (banana stuffed french toast is beyond delicious).

We especially like the fireplaces at Storyteller's during the winter months. So warm and cozy in there.

i think the characters appearing at lilo 7 stitch are a pretty steady line-up: lilo, stitch, daisy duck, minnie mouse, and pluto. this is one of the few places you can see daisy. :thumbsup2

on the other hand, the gk lineup changes a bit. you will always see goofy, pluto and i think minnie but the others vary; we've seen those listed above except the fairy godmother; we've also seen sleeping beauty, belle, captain hook, peter pan, and others.

We saw Terk, Chip & Dale, Meeko, Koda and Kenai when we were at Storyteller's earlier this month.

We paid several visits to Goofys Kitchen and over the course of a week met Sleeping beauty, Mulan, Jasmine, Minnie, Baloo, Pluto, Chip & Dale, Goofy of course and Aladdin.

Chip & Dale, Goofy and Pluto were always there. I'm guessing Chip & Dale are considered regulars too because they wear aprons with their names on.
Baloo was there one morning, Jasmine one morning and one evening (Aladdin replaced her the second evening), and Minnie both evenings.

The photo area once had Pluto, once Minnie and once Baloo.

We loved Goofys, even our group of adults had great character interaction. I had injured my foot in the park, and everyone (including the characters) was simply wonderful to me. I celebrated my birthday there, and Sleeping Beauty even sang to me along with the CMs.

The character interaction at Storytellers was great too. We had the earliest seating available and were the second group to be seated. All characters came to our table several times.

We did Stitch last year and after doing the other two breakfasts I felt rather shortened there. Food was good, but we only saw 3 characters there overall (Stitch, Lilo and Pluto).

Foodwise I think Goofys has the bigger selection and is more geared towards kids with buffet items like "worms and dirt". The Storytellers buffet seamed more "adult" if you know what I mean.
Still both buffets were absolutely delicious, and I couldn't pick a favorite.

Overall I'd say it depends on which characters you'd like to see.
Goofy generally has the more "recognizable" characters. That's just my opinion, but overall I'd personally want my kids to see characters they know.

We liked Goofy's Kitchen too! We had a lot of character interaction, even for the adults. When we last went, in one day we saw Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, Jasmine, Goofy, Goofy's Son (What is his name? I'm having an old timers moment!), Alice, Mad Hatter, Pluto, and a bunch of others. I agree that people have to decide what kind of characters they will recognize. The food selection was very good and had stuff for adults and kids. We would go there again for breakfast.:)

You mean for once German TV used the right name when dubbing? :scared1:

When I asked the kids where they wanted to do a character meal on our upcoming trip the resounding answer was "Goofy's Kitchen". They love the macarena and the banging on the pots and pans. The only two other times we have been there there were an abundance of characters (probably 7 or 8 each time).

Thank you everyone for all your great input... my kids also want to do Goofy's Kitchen... we may do Storyteller's for dinner one of the days we are in the park... I know there are no characters but I think they will enjoy the meal better than the one we currently have reserved at Napa Rose... I am assuming GC is a very quick walk from DCA... also does anyone know if PCH Grill has sushi... I know Yamabuki does but had read somewhere that PCH does sometimes as well... maybe at the buffett??

Is there a list of off-site buffets with menu, prices and location anywhere?

No thanks, not worth the time away from the parks for us. We have AP's so we would rather do Minnie's or Ariel's. If we were going off site it would be to Lilo & Stitch again. :)

When I ask my kids they always pick Ariel's or Minnie. They didn't like GK much.

Do you mean off-site as far as being away from the whole Resort? Just nearby buffets that are close to DLR? Or did you mean a list of off-site buffets out of the parks, but still in the DLR hotels? Are there any buffets outside of the resor? I think there might be a Hometown Buffet somewhere close, but other than that, not sure....
