Honestly, I chose Kevin's reviews because they are a snapshot of his meal and not everyones, and he says it's his opinion, and I just fast forward the rants because I don't like them.

They are both so much fun to listen to. But what if you are the target of the bad review or the rant? :confused3
I've often wondered if the managers from the restaurants catch wind of the bad review from Kevin? Do you think any changes are ever made? I remember the review of Shutters. That was a miserable review of the place. Wouldn't you think if you were the manager of that restaurant, upon hearing the review, and knowing that it is a very famous podcast, wouldn't you be mortified? I wonder if Kevin ever gets any feedback from the places he has visited? Has a manager ever contacted him to invite him back? Hmmmm just a thought.

We've been spotted a few times....Teppan Edo, Tusker House and I think..just recently at Portofino...but I have only been contacted by the manager of a restaurant once, and that was the General Manager of Chef's de France and Bistro de Paris (Jerome Bocuse).

He called to thank me for the review and to invite us to dinner (at his expense) at Bistro de Paris (as I had not been there) as a way of saying "thank you".

I thanked him for the invitation, but politely declined. I explained that we paid out of pocket for each and every meal reviewed and in order to maintain our integrity, we could not accept his very nice offer.

We have since dined at Bistro de Paris and we'll talk about it on an upcoming podcast.

I also know that, after our review, the "sad little crab cake" was removed from the Coral Reef menu. I dont know if I had anything to do with it or it was just coincidence.

But other than that....there has never been any contact.

I'm thinking that they must get a copy of them.

But I don't see why they'd change. The guy who runs Shutters must know how the place is run and be okay with it. If he wasn't okay with it, it wouldn't be run that way.

How food tastes is a matter of personal opinion. I don't hold it against a restaurant if Kevin doesn't care for the way something tastes. He might rave about a broccoli dish, but there is no way I'd ever eat it. He might not care for Beef Brewat Rolls, but I still like them. Big whup.

But when he has trouble at Shutters and I know I had trouble at Shutters and other people report having trouble at Shutters, I start to think that if it walks like a duck...

And if Shutters is a duck, the the guy who runs it must know it is a duck. Maybe he just likes ducks or doesn't care about ducks. But I don't believe that it will be a shock to him to hear that his restaurant quacks.

Pete's ranks rock, may people abroad trumpet your ravings to ears who can enact change.

Kevin you are a close second, but I take no joy in your misery of partaking ill prepared comestibles by wait staff unknowing to your existence in this plane.

Interesting results so far.

When I posted this poll it was a bit tongue-in-cheek. But I never expected Kevin's bad reviews would be twice as popular as Pete's rants. I really expected that Pete would out poll Kevin.

And here I must say "Sorry I doubted you Kevin". :3dglasses

Having met Kevin in person several times and having had the pleasure of hearing him relate stories, I'm really not surprised at how well he polls. Kevin is just a great story-teller. popcorn::

Fortunately Pete is off communing with nature so I don't have to worry about a backlash from him seeing these comments.:rolleyes1

Still time to vote in this poll.
