So I finally got to book my 2017 vacation today, and I know that there is some time before my ADR window opens up, but I am anxious to get planning! I have room in my dining schedule for 1 (2) credit meal. My party is a family of 4, me, my hubby, and my 2 sons (10 & 3 @ time of trip). My older son is on the spectrum and my younger son has some sensory issues. We have eaten at Mickey's Backyard BBQ before and we liked it and had an awesome time, but it is outside and we ended up wanting to leave early bc of a storm rolling in that we didn't want to get stuck in while waiting for the internal bus. This could also be an issue for HDDR...but HDDR is also inside so I wouldn't have to worry about temps and stuff. I should also mention we are going in March so I am not sure if that makes an issue with the weather. We have also eaten at CRT for dinner but I wasn't really impressed, but my kids really liked eating in the castle so I thought I would just throw that into the poll as well. Anyways what does everyone think?

If you plan to visit Disney Springs, I whole heartly recommend the House of Blues. Live entertainment outdoor seating area. My favorite dish is "Shrimp & Grits"

Have been to Spirit of Aloha twice. Enjoyed the show and food. Meal is brought to table family style and you serve yourself. Very ample amount of food and tasty.

Hoop Dee Doo is the only dinner for us that is a must do on every Disney trip.
And just an FYI, if you're looking for steak, I would pick Shula's over Yachtsman.

If you are strictly looking at which restaurant has the best food of the restaurants listed, it's Yachtsman. If you want something with an entertainment factor, do Hoop De Doo. I see you are staying at AKL, I would highly suggest considering Jiko's or Tiffins, which is excellent! We really loved having drinks at Nomad before our Tiffins dinner. They even have great mocktails for the kids. If you want to try a signature at another resort, Artist Point is also great. Or Flying Fish on the Boardwalk - you can then see the entertainment on the Boardwalk, play carnival games and get Ample Hills ice cream!

Thanks for the suggestions so far! We really more than likely want an entertainment venue, but we also want the food to be good...if I remember correctly my kids hardly ate anything at the BBQ bc they were too busy with the activities and also there wasn't much food that they liked. Thats why I am hesitant to go back there. They did have a blast dancing with the characters and my oldest loved the rope trick guy but I also want my kids to eat while we are there, lol

We hated HDDR. We were placed at a table where the entertainers and wait staff kept running into us. The food was not good at all. The kids did love the show though.

I voted for HDDR since you said you wanted some entertainment. We went 2 years ago and my boys 9 & 12 at the time loved it. And while the food wasn't spectacular it was very good; as you said, the boys didn't really eat all that much because of all the action going on but what they ate they enjoyed. I guess my 2nd choice would be CRT since you've been there and your boys liked it, and you still get some "entertainment" with the princesses coming around; Yachtsman food is excellent but nothing extra for the kids to do or see :)

My husband pretty much squashed all the dinner shows, lol...he said he doesn't want to eat outside so there when SOA and MBYBBQ and when I showed him a picture of HDDR he said to me "Are you crazy?", LOL...So new plan some sort of signature restaurant...I showed him menus for Yachtsman, Artist Point, CRT, Le Cellier, and Jiko. He immediately said no to CRT, he said he wasn't impressed with it when we ate there last year and its not worth the money, lol...He said the menus for Jiko and Artist Point were scary, LOL...so it came down to either Yachtsman or Le Cellier. He liked the idea of Le Cellier bc it gives us extra time in Epcot plus I don't think there is a dress code there (not 100% sure on that yet though)...He liked the menu for Yachtsman but the fact that there was a dress code really turned him off...He has to get dressed up for work every day so when we are on vacation he expects to be able to be in regular cloths. I can't really blame him though bc I would more than likely feel the same way.

Le Cellier is very dark, loud, and the tables are really close together. If your husband likes quiet, relaxing dinners, I'm not sure he would like Le Cellier.

Hmm...I will have to rethink that then...from the pictures online they look bright and roomy...guess that goes to show you that pictures can be deceiving. Anyone have any other ideas of a good place to try?
