which is better your first time or the second?

I wouldn't rate any holiday as better than any other.

The first time I went it was just myself and DH for 3 weeks. To be honest I wasn't really looking forward to it as holidays for us were usually in cities. I was wonderfully surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

A few years passed and a couple of children came along before our second trip which was great as it was the first time for DS and DD.

I wouldn't say trips 3 thru 7 were any better but they weren't any worse. As the children grew we did different things and every holiday has been hugely enjoyable.

Trip 8 is now looming with trip 9 booked - I am looking forward to our holiday as much this year as I ever have. We have things booked that we have never done before along with the usual favourites.

You and I definitely need to talk about Epcot! :teeth: You're not there at WDW in October by any chance, are you? I'll take you around and, trust me, you'll come to love it as much as I do! :thumbsup2
Nope, sorry. Unfortunately not back until August '07 - unless my lottery numbers come up!

You won't change my mind about Epcot - Click Me! - I've felt this way for a long time. However, I'd look forward to you trying :)

Kev

Do you say that when you go in hooters kev? After reading the "hooters comic"

The first time was powerful and utterly amazing but the second we are so confident of getting even more out of the holiday it will be amazing + 1. :thumbsup2

The firs time was soooo magical but we were soooooo clueless. Didn't know anything.

Second time and the subsequent times after were certainly the best.

Considering I had absolutely no desire to go to WDW, did it for DH and DDs, that first trip was magical. However we stayed offsite so found ourselves staying in the park practically all day to cram it all in so it was pretty exhausting.

Going back the second time was so much more exciting and so much better.

This will be my 4th trip and it’s just as exciting, it’s one of those things that just gets better and better.

I'm going to get my DH to read this thread - even if I have to glue him to the chair!!;)

He has said that yes we can return (we went for a once in lifetime trip last April yeah I know we all say that!) and me and DS and DD can't wait to go back. DH did enjoy it but says that next time we go we have got to have a week at the beach somewhere:confused3

I am quietly plotting a return trip but we'll have to go for three weeks if we have to do a beach week. Does anyone on here do a beach week? If so do you have a favourite resort?

Rosie

Hi Rosie,

We have done a beach week after Orlando a few times. My favourite resort is Siesta Key, just south of Sarasota on the Gulf coast (about 2 hour drive from Orlando). It has an absolutely wonderful beach, and there are bars, restaurants, shops all within walking distance. We have never actually stayed there but visited several times.

We were less keen on Sarasota itself when we stayed there (by the beach) but we were not very clever in picking the location of our hotel, so that had a lot to do with it.

We also really enjoyed Clearwater (also Gulf coast, about 1 hour 30 mins from Orlando) when we stayed there in 2002 :)

ETA: If you start a new thread with this question you are likely to get a better response :)

Our ninth was the best. Normally we go for two weeks but we decided to do a last minute trip for a week and it was a blast. We blitzed the place and had the best time ever. :bounce:

I think our first trip was wonderful in the sense it got us interested in WDW (we had only previously visited DLP) and allowed us to try all the new experiences. However, I didn't know of these boards then and we missed out on a lot of the intimate details and got overly tired very quickly. Furthermore we spent thousands on a package with Virgin Holidays for a regular room at the GF for 14 nights. Since "discovering" the DIS boards I have now realised that for the price we paid for our first trip we could have quite easily had two trips in equally good accommodation, with more flexibility.

I think all in all our first trip staying at the Polynesian was our best - discovering a little slice of heaven we will continually return to.

my 2oth trip is booked for september with 21 booked for 07 too

I cant remember very much about my first trip as I was 7, jus remember how long the flight was and having to stop for fuel.

my most memorable trip was the first chris and I went on together for my 21st we had a blast, even though we were not on property, (with the added hardship that I had to bury my grandma the day before we went, mum wouldnt let us cancel) we did everything, and it was what I needed to notdwell on upsetting matters,

It was also chriss first adult trip, and he really enjoyed pleasure island lol!

Looks as if im probably the odd one out.Ive only been once :sad2: So far...It was a holiday that I had dreamt about for years but thought I would never be able to afford. It was fantastic I loved it, every thing I expected it to be and more.
I was lucky tho I had found "The Dis" before we booked so it helped me a lot in planning our first trip and stopped us from making any mistakes.
I also read Simons book and the Unofficial Guide. We managed to fit so many things in that I think on a first trip is great, especially when you think this is going to be your only trip :lmao: We made PS's(ADRs) for character meals, resort hotel restaurants and a Illuminations Cruise as well as MNSSHP.
It really was a holiday of a life time :cloud9:
Saying that we have booked our 2nd trip YEAH  for this time next year, hopefully it will be just as magical, also were staying on site this time :wizard:
