Which movie do you like better? Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

Willy Wonka:
PROS: Fairly entertaining, nice sets.
CONS: Nearly everything. Deviates so much from the novel. Acting so-so. Really, I just don't like it.

Charlie:
PROS: Nearly everything. Very entertaining. Follows almost exactly the storyline of the novel. Great acting. Very vivid. Awesome sets. (And Johnny Depp!!)
CONS: Willy is a little too crazy and child-hating (SO unlike the book with the child-hating).

I love them both.
Johnny Depp is amazing.
But you can't beat the original.
I go with the first one.
All though...
The remake has some really funny quotes.

I love both alot.
I thought Willy Wonka was scary in the first one.
lol. And the oompa loompa's gave me nightmares.
But it was really great. Original All the way.

But I think they second one was great too.
Very funny and Johnny Depp was great.

I hate the Johnny Depp version. I hate him in anything other than POTC (which I hate those movies) and this movie was too overdone. It's like someone poured acidic sugar (kay, so that's not realistic) over the original and was trying to like scare the crap outta me.

I definitely love the original, I watch it every Easter.

Willy Wonka:
Pros: Really, really great overall... once it actually gets to the Chocolate Factory; Sweet and touching; Factory feels 'alive'; Oompa Loompas = Win; The inventiveness factor is incredible
Cons: Stalls too much at the beginning before the factory; Charlie's actor doesn't really fit the role; Mike TV doesn't make you hate him; A little bit dated in spots

Charlie:
Pros: Finally, a remake of Willy Wonka!; Mike TV makes you hate him; Feels more current than Willy Wonka; Charlie's new actor fits the role like a glove, and the supporting cast fit their roles well, too; Characters that didn't have much of a role in Willy Wonka are more emphasized; Goes a little deeper than Willy Wonka in spots; Johnny Depp
Cons: Factory feels a little less alive and a little more like a movie set; Oompa sequences aren't as fun as the old ones; Where's the Candy Man? :sad2:; Not enough inventive scenes

Overall, I like both of them, but I like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory even better than Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The factory is just so alive and interesting, and the Oompa scenes are classic.

I haven't read the book, though. So I am a bit biased there.

My favorite one is the newer one. I tink it's a lot funnier. Johnny Depp depicts Willy Wonka good, however, I think the original's actor for Willy Wonka matched more with the description of the character in the book.

Always and forever.

I really disliked the remake, it just didn't have the right "feeling". The original is so much better and will always be my favorite. :)

I personally REEEAALLLY don't like C&TFC (the new one)
It's a BIT more faithful to the book, but really, it's just....meh:confused3
I really don't think Johnny Depp was right for the role, it was just a given because it's a Tim Burton film.
If Burton would've actually auditioned actors for once instead of just running to his (box-office block-buster assuring) pal Johnny Depp, he could've found a REALLY great Willy Wonka, instead we have a very...fake, michael-jacksonesque, child-hating, upstaging Depp version.
The sets are alright, but I really like the original's sets better (the factory for example, that movie was made in the 70's!! and it makes the 2006 version look laughable in comparison!) So much more imagination in the original when it comes to the factory in general, the oompa loompas & the songs.

Gene Wilder is the ultimate Willy Wonka, he's got the perfect mix of kind-heartedness, creepiness and evil to make the perfect WW!

Freddy Highmore though, does a great job as Charlie, the rest of the kids on the other hand are much better in the original (especially Veruca!)

& Deep Roy as the Ommpa Loompas = WHAT THE HECK.
strangest choice ever!

Original owns my heart for life.

I'm a deviant and I love the newer version better. I'm a huge Johnny Depp fan and I loved his preformance in this one. I also thought that it was a bit more "grown-up" than the older one which, to me, makes the movie all the better. I also like the fact that we learn a bit about Willie's past and why he became this candy tycoon.

And I know that Willie's supposed to love children, but the guy playing him in the first movie gives me a "Michael Jackson" -esque sort of Child Lover viber whereas Johnny gives me the vibe of a guy who would just plain make a good dad.

I hate the johnny depp version. That movie is only famous becuase of teeny bopper fangirls.

NO ONE can ever replace Gene Wilder.

Definetly Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I like the original the best. After seeing the newer version I was kind of dissapointed in it, I don't really know why though.
