ok, last night I was able to get the Silver Lake resort on (request) for the 25th.
it is now off of the choices so I guess it means I have it if I win??

is Silver Lake Resort better than Westgate Villas??

Thanks :)

do a search on silver lake here on the boards...

search google for silver lake resort

try tripadvisor ( have seen some reviews there )

the one negative that some posted was the all tile flooring in silver lake units and pinkish decor ( carribean influence )

they are close to the back entrance to disney via sherbeth road ( matter of fact "animal kingdom" property backs onto silver lake if not mistaken

they must have updated their inventory, since when we looked there was no 2 bedrooms at silver lake for the 25th ...would have been nice if they had had the 3 bedrooms available

you can check out

www.silverlake.net

it should give you some indication too

Congratulations to these Winners!

boardmom NV 9/11/2004 2:53 PM EDT 1 of 1 $51
ccscott NH 9/11/2004 11:06 AM EDT 1 of 1 $50

looks like you got it.......211$ not too shabby 2 bedrooms.....

silver lake is not as sprawled out as westgate

silver lake is a Gold Crown designation, westgate is resort of international distinction ( this next url is for westgate )

http://www.westgateresorts.com/page.cfm?page=resorts&cat=resorts

you will have to report back on silver lake since we are there in december but in silver points section in a 3 bedroom

did you get the "villa" or "condo" two bedroom ( think the villas are in the silver lake proper not silver points )

yep, I finally won :teeth: YAYYYYY

I was booked at HIFS for around $560 for the week, gotta love saving money

I hadnt seen Silver Lake for the 25th either, I just check all of them whenever I'm at the site and it was there last night, so I put a request in.
It disappeared as soon as I got it.

this is all the email says, so not sure where we'll be.

Resort Name: Silver Lake Resort
Location: Kissimmee USA
Unit Size: Two Bedroom
Starting date of week: 25 Sep, 2004

summer bay

that is where we are going in november.....

if it is the 3 bedroom house .....it would be a snag....they have a HOT tub/swimming pool combo in some of the HOUSES plus your own garage.....

silver lake should be fine.......

now relax and think of how you are going to spend the extra cash you just saved....

btw, it would not hurt if you called them on monday just to double check.....1-800-929-9929

sometimes on weekends the "requests" get screwed up, have seen posts about that before....

once you get the operator ask her to transfer you to RSG, maybe you will get Nadia or Chris ...they are both very helpful

I havent picked yet, so can pick Summer Bay Resort if it is better, decisions decisions! LOL
since it says resort, I will assume it is just a 2 bedroom, I havent seen a single 3 BR for our dates.

I'll definitely call, I have read about all the mix-ups

I stayed in Summer Bay this past July. Have never stayted at Silver Lake although I passed it everyday on the short cut to the parks (Sherbeth Rd).

Summer Bay is a beautiful resort with excellent staff and service.
The one drawback of Summer Bay is it is a much farther drive to the parks than Silver Lake. It about 2 miles past mile marker 15 (@15 mins down 192W)as opposed to, as someone mentioned, Silver Lake practically being on Disney Property (at AK Park & Lodge), in fact, you should be able to see them building Everest from some of the units.

There is alot of construction going on at Silver Lake right now and be wary of the pressure sales tour they try to snake you into taking.

Both are Gold Crown and get decent reveiws on TUG, so you really can't go wrong for the price offered on Skyacution.

Good Luck

I decided to go with Silver Lake resort since it was closer
TOTAL was $210 :)

now I can work on finding local stores and restaurants :)

Thanks so much for walking me through it!

I just LOVE this site!!:Pinkbounc

3boysmommy

there is a publix right next to orange lake .......just down the road from silver lake about 4 miles.....prices are not that bad there....

if you want a super walmart you will have to go the other way to just past mediaeval times

do a search for irlo bronson hwy on google.....i think they have it broken up by "mile marker" with a listing of services/restaurants.....

and plan at least one evening to visit "Old Town" just down the road ( you cannot miss it....the high steel beams of the "slingshot" and "reverse Bungie ball"

There is also a Winn Dixie across 192 from Silver Lake (used to be a Goodings). The resort has a little store, too, but it ain't cheap!

You will like SL. It's small but nice. You cna walk to everything in just a couple of minutes. Be sure to see what movies are playing in the theater (free!).

That is SO FANTASTIC!!!:Pinkbounc Isn't Skyauction great??

Do you realize that since your total for the week is $261, then you are paying $37.29 (including tax) A NIGHT for a TWO bedroom? Ha! I love it. :D

You have saved yourself $299 from HIFS and you have a lot more room/amenities. So where do ya think you're going to spend it??

Congratulations again!!:sunny:

Yes, and when they unleash thei r "pressure cooker" sales tactics onto you trying to sell you the same unit for $20,000.00 plus with maintenence fees of $7-900.00 a week make sure you tell them how much it costs to stay there without all the "strings" attached.

You know Magiroux, I was thinking the same thing when we were down there. (Although we didn't have to do the sales presentation thing. DH said he will NEVER be interested in doing that. ) But then I thought, if I tell them that, they might stop offering them on Skyauction, and I definately don't want that!:p I want them to be very happy..........................

Very happy....:wizard: Orlando Resorts, you will be veeeerrrryyyy haaaapppppyyyyyy.....:wizard: :teeth:

Mom of Sleepy, Bashful and BabyDoc

same thought here ....

we had better enjoy skyauction while we can

how often do you see some of the better resorts like OLCC ( No Records Found ) Vistana (6 records found ) or Hilton Grand Vacations ( No Records Found ) on skyauction anymore

good thought on your part....

Question: How do you know if a Timeshare Salesman is lying??

Answer: His lips are moving.

You're right. You may not want to advertise but it is so tempting to stuff this info in their face when they say, "you will never be able to vacation in this resort unless you buy from me, RIGHT NOW, TODAY, NOW, NOW, NOW"!!!!!

magiroux

exactly

we bought resale at orange lake ( when we buy something, we like to research ), developers do not like "researchers"

but one salesman explained it to us very succinctly once.......they will never see you again and this is their one chance to sell to you....

we use skyauction to "top up" our vacations
