We are trying to decide which one to do, Hoop-Dee-Doo OR Mickey's Backyard BBQ.
:sunny:

Our family, 4 adults, DD 3 and DS 8, are going to Disney in August. This will be our first time trying Hoop-Dee-Doo. The reviews that I have read on it have been mostly positive. We did, however, go to Mickey's BBQ last summer. Our kids, 7 and 2 at the time, LOVED it. It is very laid back and the food was average, but the character interaction was amazing. The characters come out at various times throughout the night and dance with the kids. It was so fun to watch. Our daughter was holding hands and dancing with Minnie Mouse, Chip and Dale and others. We would have no problem booking Mickey's again, we just wanted to try something new this time. I can highly recommend Mickey's BBQ if you have children who would like to dance and have fun with the characters.

Well, HDDR is inside in the A/C, and MBYBBQ is outside in the heat. That might help you decide, especially if you are going in the hottest part of the year.

I would do HDDR because it is indoors and air conditioned.

Are these two even comparable? I mean, I haven't been to the barbeque but one of them is dinner show (HDDR) and the other is kind of a glorified character meal?

Thanks everyone! I think we will stick with Hoop-Dee-Doo!!! The a/c made the decision for me!!! ;) We are going in June, and I want to find as many cool places as possible.

The BBQ is about $40 for adults and the HDDR is $50 for adults. The kids cost about $25 at each. I personally wouldn't pay $40 just to sit outside at picnic tables under a pavillion, and be forced to listen to country music and to watch a bunch of kids go crazy line dancing with the characters. :sad2: HDDR isn't much better IMO, but at least you get a bit more for your money there.
