Which is better, December or January?

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and learning a lot from reading your posts. I am trying to figure out when to reserve FW for our new cub scout pack. We recently moved from Orlando (Hunter's Creek), where we camped in FW with that pack on Dec. 4-6, 2009. We did it to enjoy the holiday setting and activities, but like many December weekends, it poured. Everyone had a great time despite being cold and wet, and some drove home and came back. No biggie. I would love to do that again, but without the nonstop rain. A couple of parents in this new pack we are with (in Ft. Lauderdale) want to go in January. So we're talking colder but possibly drier, and no holiday spirit. Plus, we would need to have plenty of non-park activities for those families who choose not to buy tickets. Ultimately, I feel responsible for everyone having the opportunity to have a good time at FW. Any help with my planning would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome!

I don't think December is generally a rainy time in Central Florida.

In fact, in my experience, we get more cold fronts and rain in January than we do in December.

Because of all the decorations, I would always pick a December visit over a January visit.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure you will have fun.

I would definitely go in December. You wouldn't have to plan as many down time activities and of course there is the holiday spirit as well. Also, kids are always on their best behavior in December.
